Sunday Worship Service 10:30 am chalice

January 18, 2015: "Hope in Times Like These"

Jessica Clay, with Worship Associate Bev Munyon

With all that is going on in the world, hope seems like a concept that slips through our fingers. We get glimpses of it as we pass through our days, and yet how do we hold on to it in the midst of our hurting world? Unitarian Universalism has a message of hope; come let us worship together as we explore this and its place in our lives.

Jessica Clay is a seminarian at Starr King School for the Ministry in Berkeley, California, and is a Candidate for Fellowship with the UUA. She is student body president for the 2014-2015 school year. She has her Masters in Occupational Therapy from Pacific University and comes to ministry as a second career. In her free time, she enjoys hiking, taking improv comedy classes, and volunteering.

The UUCM Book Club has chosen The Meaning of Existence by E.O. Wilson for our January 21 meeting.  In The Meaning of Human Existence Pulitzer Prize-winning biologist Edward O. Wilson grapples with existential questions, such as examining what makes human beings supremely different from all other species. The library has 38 copies and there is a wait for this book so reserve your copy now.  We meet at 7:30 pm in the Clara Barton room; all are welcome.
