RE nUUs
| | Learning about our homeless neighbors' needs. Mikey Songster and Susan Ingersoll facilitated four kids in making 76 toiletry kits in our annual packaging and homelessness discussion. They will be delivered to St. Vincent's for the shelter guests. The next part of our educational process is to get kids with their families down for dinner at St. Vincent's and/or making food for the Women's Shelter. For an update about progress of the new-yet-to-be, Marin Co. permanent shelter see this IJ link. Join our team! Are you interested in being part of an RE teaching team for 2nd-6th graders? Or helping RE by taking on a small project? Tell me in person or via email. Looking forward to creating a meaningful 2015 together with you.

Your spiritual path and UU, Part A | | January 11, 12:30, Clara Barton Room Drop-ins are welcome If you have questions about Unitarian Universalism or liberal religion in general, we have a class for you! Part A - This is the first of two sessions in a series. It focuses on an introduction to Unitarian Universalism and includes sharing of our religious history, our hopes, and reasons for joining our community at UUCM. During this time we encourage attendees to share their spiritual path. |
Basket Share January 11 | | As part of our mission, the UUCM Social Justice Committee continues its Sunday offering Basket Share commitment. The next 50/50 share will take place on January 11. Half of what you put in the basket will be shared with OMA Village. OMA Village is transforming an empty lot in Novato, CA, into a thriving, eco-friendly community of 14 small family homes. Resident families will be working their way out of homelessness through employment or job training. The homes are designed to help promote a healthy environment and better well-being for the occupants. Recycled and renewable materials and low-VOC paints will be used to finish the interiors. Efficient appliances will bring the community near a net-zero Energy rating. On January 11, you will learn how this is done and concrete ways that you can help. |

Winter "touches" don't have to be something in bloom -- not much is. A beautiful branch, sinuous grasses, or a meaningful object. Each adds an aesthetic element for all to appreciate. Please let me know which date you would like. Thanks! Sally (sallyrschroeder@comcast.net) |
Book Club | | The UUCM Book Club has chosen The Meaning of Existence by E.O. Wilson for our January 21 meeting. In The Meaning of Human Existence Pulitzer Prize-winning biologist Edward O. Wilson grapples with existential questions, such as examining what makes human beings supremely different from all other species. We did not meet in December so the extra month has allowed us to choose this recent publication. The library has 38 copies and there is a wait for this book so reserve your copy now. We meet at 7:30 pm in the Clara Barton room; all are welcome. |
