Sunday Worship Service 10:30 am chalice

October 19, 2014:  "This is my religion"

Nani Ranken, with Karen Auroy, Worship Associate

This sermon represents my personal experience of spiritual growth over 25 years of membership.  After considerable reading, listening, pondering, and changing my mind, I here present my interpretation of our religion, and reflect on its depth and power.

Sermon conversation to follow the service.

Every Little Bit Helps

Please sign up to help prepare snacks for RE on a few Sunday mornings. It is about 15-20 minutes, well appreciated by the kids. Click here to sign up.

Going to the retreat? Want to help facilitate YRUU in worship design? Saturday morning in the first workshop session or the fourth or both. We need a second adult to help out. Come hang out. Email Jef.

I am still looking for a Bluetooth speaker to equip the NEW Nursing Lounge and Nursery with audio of the worship service. One more week until we spend some cash on it.

Didn't get a chance to buy stuff at the rummage sale? You can still donate $ to the YRUU GA Fund. Call me or send to Janette.

Missing Linens

janette

We are currently missing about six of our nice burgundy round linens (NOT including the recent Dinners for 8 event). If you have taken any home to wash and not had a chance to return them, please either bring them in or let Janette in the office know when they will be returned. These were purchased within the past year, and we would like to make sure we maintain our inventory.

Thank you,

President's Message

Thank you everyone who attended the Fall Congregational Meeting on October 5.  If you did not attend, you missed some important information about our current organizational needs. Please open and read the "Open Positions document, to see if your talents might match one of our needs.

Giving your time in this manner is rewarded with the satisfaction of making a meaningful contribution, and making deeper connections with individual people along the way.  Don't worry if the task seems new -- there will be people to train you and help you get started, and make sure you are successful.

One last thought -- this is not intended to be an exhaustive list of every possible opening.  There are many more opportunities to contribute.  The purpose of the attached list is to highlight those positions that have been open for a period of time, and that the Board of Trustees considers important to fill.

If you think you are might be able to contribute to any of these areas, please contact me at destrada@ffic.com, or speak to anyone on the Board.

Best,

Dianne

Congregational Retreat, Oct. 24-26, 2014
retreat13 We have a total of approximately 70 people! You should have received your information packet by email. If not please notify Thomas.  Think about your talents, and consider being included in the Saturday afternoon Talent Show at the Retreat. Talent Show Entry form.

Also volunteers needed to help with kid and youth activities. 1.5 hour commitment.

For everyone-
Don't forget to bring an item to tie-dye and a pumpkin to carve or paint. (younger than 10 need to have parental supervision for tie-dye.)

Remarkable People

Come and be in the presence of a Remarkable Person with a long list of theatrical and poetic accomplishments.

Get to know your local (but nationally known) poet, playwright, short story-writer, professor of fine art photography, and actress.  She is prolific, modest, funny and one of us.

Hear what she has to say about her creative journey and ask questions of this local celebrity.

Sandy Steinman is the featured October presence for the Remarkable People series!  Come and enjoy.
