President's Message | | Thank you everyone who attended the Fall Congregational Meeting last Sunday. If you did not attend, you missed some important information about our current organizational needs. Please open and read the "Open Positions" document, to see if your talents might match one of our needs. Giving your time in this manner is rewarded with the satisfaction of making a meaningful contribution, and making deeper connections with individual people along the way. Don't worry if the task seems new -- there will be people to train you and help you get started, and make sure you are successful. One last thought -- this is not intended to be an exhaustive list of every possible opening. There are many more opportunities to contribute. The purpose of the attached list is to highlight those positions that have been open for a period of time, and that the Board of Trustees considers important to fill. Best, Dianne |

Book Group - October 15 | | For the Wednesday October 15th UUCM book group, Carol Littrell with lead the discussion of The Sixth Extinction, An Unnatural History by Elizabeth Kolbert. Time is 7:30 to 9:00 pm, Clara Barton Room. Over the last half billion years, there have been five major mass extinctions, when the diversity of life on Earth suddenly and dramatically contracted. Scientists are currently monitoring the sixth extinction, predicted to be the most devastating since the asteroid impact that wiped out the dinosaurs. In this book the author tells us why and how human beings have altered life on the planet in a way no species has before. She provides a moving account of the disappearances of various species occurring all around us and traces the evolution of extinction. The sixth extinction is likely to be mankind's most lasting legacy.
All members and visitors are welcome. |
