July 13, 2014:  Counting Down the Days

Lindasusan Ulrich, with Sue Fleckles, Worship Associate

There are times when an event or long-awaited news -- whether good or bad -- sits just beyond the horizon. How do we deal with our anticipation? And how do we not miss out on the life taking place in the meantime?

Guest speaker Lindasusan Ulrich, MDiv, is a hospital chaplain and will begin as the Hallman Ministerial Intern at Unity Church-Unitarian in St. Paul, MN, this fall.

July 20, 2014: "Honoring Our Namesakes - Those that came before us"

Jo Green, with Linda Haumann, Worship Associate

We have a Unitarian side and a Universalist side to our faith.  Who are those that came before us and how have they influenced what we believe today?  Explore those names that seem so common to us now, but were major innovators then.

Guest speaker, Jo Green is a recent graduate of Starr King School for the Ministry where she was Co-President of the Student Body this year.  She will begin her ministry internship this Fall in Cherry Hill, NJ. Jo is a recent UU, only finding this denomination 10 years ago, but her fervor and passion for what Unitarian Universalism stands for is long standing.  Originally discovering Unitarian Universalism in Southern CA. she has been a member of the Unitarian Universalist Church of Berkeley for the past 3 years and is delighted to have participated in Unitarian Universalism in Northern CA.

Congregational Retreat, Oct. 24-26, 2014

Mark your calendars!  Our Congregational Retreat will be held in October this year, from Friday evening through Sunday morning.  This is an all-congregational event held at the beautiful Walker Creek Ranch in West Marin (approximately 30 minutes west of Novato).  There is a flexible attendance/pricing plan to make sure that everyone can attend as their time and budget allows. You can stay in a semi-private lodge or family style dormitory with separate bedrooms for each family and bathrooms down the hall.  Meals include Friday night dinner, three meals on Saturday, and Sunday breakfast.  We will have our traditional campfire sing on Friday night and Barn Dance on Saturday night, plus all of your favorite activities and some new ones -- Night Hike, Ropes Course, Tie Dye, and many more fun activities for young and old.

Included in the Saturday program are concurrent sessions of approximately 1.5 hours each, where our members lead sessions of many different types -- arts & crafts, discussions, body movement.  Do you have a special talent or skill that you would like to share with the congregation?  Do you have expertise on a topic that might make an interesting discussion session?  The Retreat may be the perfect opportunity -- let us know!

Registration forms and Parent's/Guardian's Consent and Release Form. Watch this space for more information and updates.
