Rev. Chip's Sabbatical
Rev. Chip will be taking 10 weeks of his 20 weeks of accrued Sabbatical time this fall, starting Oct. 1st and running through Dec 15th.  Finances permitting, he plans to visit several of the 25 Unitarian churches in the Kassi hills of India, and the natural reserves in the far northeast finger above Burma, what is now called Myanmar.  And he will hopefully complete the book he is working on.

Under contractual letters of agreement for all UU ministers in full fellowship with the UUA, sabbatical is accrued at the rate of one month for each year of service. Rev. Chip has chosen to only take half his accrued sabbatical during this year.  As he says:  "I like what I do, and I like this community I serve. I don't want to be away too long.  And the weather is good in India in the fall-no monsoons and not too hot."   Therefore he will be here at the opening of the Church year for a month and then be back before Christmas.  During his absence, Rev. Chip has arranged for his pulpit time to be filled by several colleagues, all in final fellowship with the UUA. He has also arranged for emergency pastoral support if it is needed when he is out of reach.
