Sunday Worship Service
|
October 3, 2013: 'Faith and the religious experience.' Rev Chip Wright with Worship Associate Bev Munyon
Most people understand faith is a primary piece of a religious perspective. Classical Religion does demand a certain amount of faith. How faith is understood however makes a significant difference in one's religious experience.

Contemplative Service
| |
UUCM's early Sunday morning 9 am Contemplative Service in the Fireside Room is a lay led service. It has become a quiet reflective mainstay for the circle of 2 to 8 regulars who attend and we always welcome those who would like to try this alternative. Readings introduce a silent period to reflect on a topic or idea, followed by an opportunity to share individual thoughts.
Come and widen our circle. All are welcome!
Questions, email Carol Kerr at drckerr@pacbell.net.

Minister's Musing
| | October has arrived and once more we move into fall and another year together in the life of the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Marin. As we look at the year ahead it is full of exciting programmed times to get to know each other and share more of our lives and hopes about who we are, where we wish to go, and how.
There are many and varied gatherings, adult education offerings, family outings and all church events already on the calendar. On Oct 13th will be the first of our four Congregational Conversations scheduled for the year. These gatherings will be led by the Board, the Committee on Ministry and myself. So please plan on attending and bring your best spirit and thoughts as we engage with the questions of who we are, what we mean to the larger community and how we will move ahead in the next five years and further as the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Marin.
If you attended the Issues of Aging classes that the Pastoral Care committee and I offered three years ago, you know how important they were as a resource, as well as a safe and rare time to engage with this topic with peers and family. We are offering another set of classes to bring forward some of the issues we were not able to address last time as well as a recap of several resources (so that those who didn't attend last time can also take advantage of this - offering.) So mark your calendars for Nov 3 & 17th, and RSVP to the office so we will have enough food, materials and seating.
Stay tuned for other exciting and enriching programming coming this year. Take advantage of it--it is here for you to engage and enjoy. 2013-14 here we come!

Religious Education nUUs | | Religious Education Notes: Invitation to Neighboring Faiths for 6th - 8th graders
The MUUGs (Middle school UU Group) grades 6th - 8th are about to begin the Neighboring Faiths curriculum. This is often cited years later by the youth and parents as one of the more memorable years in religious education. We will be visiting other faith's places of worship and interviewing persons and leaders from other faith traditions. This is a great class to invite friends and neighbors' kids to join the experience and also learn about what we as UUs value.
Warm Wishes,
Jeffrey Melcher,

feel good. The Homeless Chaplaincy sponsors a dinner for the less fortunate. It is so well organized that they only need salads for the LARGE group attending the dinner! The number runs about 60 folks!. They always eat every morsel of salad we bring. (Well, we do eat as well.)
This month Linda Stoneall, Mary Bicknell, Dick and Marje Park, Walt and Carol Littrell, and Don Beck brought, stayed and ate! Maybe next month, October 8th, 5:15pm at the 1st Presbyterian Church in San Rafael you will pass it on and feel good. Families are welcome!
