Chip's Clips
"Every cloud has a silver lining," a simple metaphor among many similar ones, offers the same advice: have faith or trust. That is what we do when we make our annual financial commitments to UUCM.  And though we all shudder a bit under that metaphorical cloud as we write down the numbers we will commit to UUCM in the coming year, we also see the lining and go ahead and trust.  We enter into a faith agreement with one another that we can and will carry this institution and all it represents forward through yet another year.  That the sliver lining is there and that we together are its creators. So as pledge time winds down here I would ask all of you to think about what it is that you see as the silver lining here. What is it that you know this place to be?  What here brightens otherwise lackluster times in your lives?  How much is this congregation, this community, this home of liberal values and efforts worth?

We understand how important this liberal religious place is or we would not spend our time and care and treasure here.  We can and do make a garden in the midst of all the frantic rush of life.  As its stewards, one of our callings is to make a sanctuary for the thinking mind and the compassionate heart as well.  To maintain and grow a place of sanctuary and a center for the evolution of the spiritual and religious life, trusting in the inherent good of such things.  Doing this life work together can truly give deep and lasting meaning to our individual journey.  So as April rolls out think about what it is that makes UUCM the place it is for you.  What has been built here for us and what can we build here together for tomorrow; for that is our task to do.  Let us look ahead and start to vision this spiritual and religious home.  What can we do to make it rich and life changing for the next set of generations ahead?

Egg Hunt and Visit From 6-foot Easter Bunny
jef melcher If the rumors are true, a giant rabbit will be hiding eggs and making a visual appearance at UUCM this Sunday. I have never seen this kind of creature emerge from the storybooks, but I am told it happens annually.

In preparation for this event the kids have prepared colored eggs to be hidden, found, eaten and shared with the woman's shelter.

Come enjoy the spectacle or, if under 13 yrs. old, come hunt for eggs.

Book Group
book pile Our Book Group meets on third Wednesdays at 7:30 in the Clara Barton Room.  Members and visitors are invited to join us in lively discussions.

The selection for Wednesday, April 17 is Jeffrey Eugenides' The Marriage Plot.  "Moody spiritual seeker Mitchell Grammaticus is besotted with English literature loving Madeleine, who's just as besotted with brilliant, unstable Leonard. A standard love triangle? No, it's an extraordinary, liquidly written evocation of love's mad rush and the mistakes made in its name. Few books so effectively capture the territory lying beyond coming-of-age but before middle-age angst sets in."  Library Journal.
