Young Adult Climate Justice Workshop | | Hi There!
The UU young adult network of UU Ministry for Earth is hosting our first PCD regional young adult gathering on climate justice this March 1-2 in Berkeley, at the Berkeley Fellowship of Unitarian Universalists. Join other UU young adults for this mini climate justice training and organizing workshop. We will explore how UU values call us to ecological justice work: How does the climate crisis intersect with race and class? How are we connected to climate-changing, community-destroying resource extraction and energy production processes? What economic, political, and social dynamics are at work? Come strategize with us for a more powerful, inspiring and effective movement and explore what we can do together as a community in the future.
What: UU young adult Climate Justice Workshop When: March 1: 6-9pm, including pot luck dinner
March 2: 9-5pm, brown bag lunch
Where: Berkeley Fellowship of Unitarian Universalists
1924 Cedar Street, Berkeley, CA, 94709
This is our first regional gathering, and we hope you can make it!!! This is where we will shape our identity as a group, what we want to do together, and our work for climate justice. If you need housing or can offer housing to a traveler for the night of March 1 or 2, please contact me(jenni.nordstrom@gmail.com; 718-290-6399). Contact me with any questions or offerings, and RSVP to me, so we have a rough head count. Please forward this to anyone you think would be interested--this is an open invitation.
Best, Jennifer Nordstrom, UU Ministry for Earth Young Adult Intern

Social Justice Education/Action Activities

Anyone can volunteer to prepare food for the women at the Sunday night homeless shelter. Invite friends and neighbors to join you in this rewarding project. Food preparation is all that's really needed. However, it's always a rewarding experience to actually come to the REST shelter and dine with our lady guests. Extra food is needed on first Sundays for the Mill St. shelter. Sign up on the board in the foyer or contact: figleafjoan@comcast.net 453-6221 --------------------------------------------------------- The homeless ladies seem to crave hugs. They light up at the mention of hand reflexology foot rubs, manicures and hair stylings. If you're interested in doing this kind of hands-on outreach, contact figleafjoan@comcast.net - 453-6221. -------------------------------------------------------------- Please remember to buy white socks and nonperishable food items for our homeless friends. Just leave them in the foyer. And rest assured that they will be appreciated. ---------------------------------------------------------- Women's shelter volunteers this week included: Katherine, Mary, Dianne and Lauren, Margaret and Thomas.
