Dear friend and supporter,

We have just posted a guest article by Reach Out and Read National Medical Director Dr. Perri Klass, M.D. on the Reach Out and Read blog: "Bedtime Stories for Young Brains."

Dr. Klass examines two new studies that tell us more about how reading aloud connects with early brain and language development.

"Reading picture books with young children may mean that they hear more words, while at the same time, their brains practice creating the images associated with those words - and with the more complex sentences and rhymes that make up even simple stories."

This article was first published in the NY Times on August 17, 2015.

We hope you enjoy it!

With best wishes from Reach Out and Read
