We hope that you enjoy the July issue of Notes from National!
Please forward these notes to your Reach Out and Read providers, colleagues, and partners.
As always, we greatly appreciate all that you and your colleagues do to support Reach Out and Read and the families you serve.
Kind Regards,
The Reach Out and Read National Center Staff
We've moved!
In June, the National Center moved into a new location (details below). We are downsizing to match our current staffing capacity, and we are moving into a building in downtown Boston called the Nonprofit Center.
Our new office is cozy - but much more efficient (e.g., shared kitchen and conference space). It provides great networking opportunities with other non-profits, and is helpful to our bottom line.
Help us understand how the Reach Out and Read program is working in your clinical practice
Guide us as we develop new and improved resources to support your program's success
If you are the Reach Out and Read primary medical leader in your clinic or practice, we would appreciate it if you took some time out of your busy day to complete this survey, (it will only take about 5 minutes of your time), and thank you in advance for your feedback.
We are pleased to announce the launch of our Prescription for Success Toolkit designed to support collaborations between libraries, museums and Reach Out and Read program sites.
In January 2015, we embarked on a yearlong project, Prescription for Success, funded by the Institute of Museum and Library Services. This was aimed at bringing together Reach Out and Read, libraries and museums, natural partners that have a collective impact on the lives of young children.
The toolkit encourages local libraries, museums and Reach Out and Read sites to open conversations with one another, to explore common interests, learn about one another and build trust and community. It suggests ways in which they can support one another, provides links to materials and resources to help with collaborations, and examples of successful established partnerships.
Bridging the Word Gap Survey: Request for Participation
The Bridging the Word Gap Research Network - a national collaboration of researchers, policymakers, early educators, civic leaders, program directors and funders - is seeking participation in a short survey to identify research that will make a difference in reducing the word gap.
We encourage you, who have in depth knowledge in this area, to help shape the national agenda identifying future funding priorities that will reduce the disparity in children's early language experience.
