starting out with a disadvantage that is hard to overcome. And recent research from Stanford indicates that this gap can start as early as 18 months. To bridge the thirty million word gap, Reach Out and Read MA doctors prescribe almost 200,000 books a year, encouraging parents to talk, sing and read with their children.
