Caulking Homeowner Clinic: Sat., Feb. 1 10-11 a.m.

Water damage is a homeowner's worst enemy because it rots your home from the inside out.  At Saturday's home clinic, learn how to properly seal doors and windows as well as plumbing fixtures using various types of caulking. Bring your questions and learn the best tips and techniques.  Presented by Jake Bierman of Bierman Home Inspections, the clinic will be held on Saturday, February 1, from 10-11 a.m. at the ReStore.  The class is free and no reservations are required.  See you there!

Construction & Weed-Whacking Volunteers Needed
at Hawaiian Beaches Project
The inside and outside of our Hawaiian Beaches fundraising home is changing dramatically.  The exterior is now beige and the inside is rapidly taking color, now that drywall has been completed.  The photos show some of our volunteers, Anna and John, who are painting and working on drywall.  We really appreciate our volunteers.

You can join us in repairing this home so that we can sell it and raise funds to build our 11th partner family home.  Our February workdays are on Saturdays: Feb. 8 (painting & cleanup), 15 (flooring), and 22 (cabinetry) from 8-12 noon.  You'll enjoy meeting some fun people and enjoy seeing the house project move forward.   To sign up, please use the Volunteer Calendar.  Details, including the address, will be emailed to you.

By the way, are you looking for a way to help the project that works with a more flexible schedule?  We still need regular weed-whacking for this property as well.  To assist in this way, please email us.

Thanks for your continued support!

Long-Time RSVP Volunteers Honored
For the past 31 years, Carlita Corpuz has volunteered, along with Eddie Yokoyama, for the past three years, to wrap gifts as part of their involvement in the Retired Seniors Volunteer Program (RSVP) at Prince Kuhio Plaza.  All gift wrapping donations have been given to Hilo Habitat for Humanity.  This past year's gift was $642.  Now, Carlita and Eddie are retiring, but the partnership will continue.  Shown above: General Growth Properties Marketing Director Bev Crudele; Hilo Habitat President Julie Hugo, REALTOR; Volunteers Eddie Yokoyama and Carlita Corpuz; and General Growth Properties General Manager Kimberly Shimabuku.
