The Summer Day
Mary Oliver
Who made the world?
Who made the swan, and the black bear?
Who made the grasshopper?
This grasshopper, I mean-
the one who has flung herself out of the grass,
the one who is eating sugar out of my hand,
who is moving her jaws back and forth instead of up and down-
who is gazing around with her enormous and complicated eyes.
Now she lifts her pale forearms and thoroughly washes her face.
Now she snaps her wings open, and floats away.
I don't know exactly what a prayer is.
I do know how to pay attention, how to fall down
into the grass, how to kneel down in the grass,
how to be idle and blessed, how to stroll through the fields,
which is what I have been doing all day.
Tell me, what else should I have done?
Doesn't everything die at last, and too soon?
Tell me, what is it you plan to do
with your one wild and precious life?
Hello Dear Friends-
As we are about to move from Spring to Summer I am aware of so much growing and opening in our external world and reflect on the same being true internally, vibrationally, within each of us, always. This growth is what continues to support our Health and allows for a deeper Healing.
I wake and hear the birds, their joyous melody
greeting the day. I meet my day, acknowledging all
that is and grateful for all that nourishes me.
In this Meeting, I GROW.
I arise and create my day, envisioning blessings,
allowing peace and kindness to walk with me,
excited and curious about the gifts to come.
With this Intention I GROW.
I am present and in a state of allowing. As I move with no resistance, I soften, open, and treasures arrive. These take
on many forms, and their gifts are not always immediately
clear. I pause in a single moment to feel the breeze, the
warmth of the sun, a gentle kiss, the sound of the rain.
I embrace both the joys and challenges with a tenderness,
a gentleness... relaxing and slowing down.
In this state of Presence I GROW.
As the sun begins to set and the colors of purple, orange and
red adorn the sky, there is a letting go. A letting go of any
unmet expectations, a letting go into rest and renewal, a letting
go into my dreams, into possibilities... Health and Happiness...
In this Letting Go I GROW.
"Tell me, what is it you plan to do
with your one wild and precious life?"
