Advertising Students tour GSD&M
| 
On Tuesday 3/1/16, Lake Travis High School students from Mrs. Oates Advertising class were able to tour GSD&M. Megan Sul, Recruitment Coordinator, introduced the ad agency which is headquartered in Austin. Her presentation and special Q&A with the students peaked their interest in advertising careers. A special feature was visiting GSD&M's back lot where their client the U.S. Air Force had a fighter jet and learning lab displayed. They will be using this new advertising campaign to attract high school students to join the armed forces. Students also met Jen Buschhorn from the School of Journalism & Mass Communications at Texas State University in San Marcos regarding a future degree in Advertising.

HELP WANTED:
Fern Committee for Honors Assembly & Graduation
The Counseling Office is looking for a few good Junior Parents/Students to assist with the Fern Committee for Honors Assembly and Graduation. This committee would be in charge of organizing the purchase, placement, and disbursement of 50+ ferns for both the Honors Assembly and Graduation. Committee members would need to be available both the day of the Honors Assembly and the afternoon until after the Graduation Ceremony. Please contact Jan Kalb (512-533-6114) in the Counseling Office to volunteer or for more details.

Delegate Application
STUDENT LEADERS OF TOMORROW
Conference Description:
SLOT (Student Leaders of Tomorrow) is a three-day leadership development conference for high school juniors and seniors which takes place annually at Texas A&M.
Delegates are students who participate in the conference, and who will be grouped into "roundtables" led by
facilitators (current students at Texas A&M), as they move through the SLOT leadership curriculum.
Delegates will have the opportunity to learn from Keynote and Breakout speakers who will share their ideas of leadership and how the delegates can further develop their leadership skills.
Delegates will acquire the fundamental skills needed to become effective leaders, and will be provided the necessary tools to make an impact in their community and continue their leadership development journey.
WHEN: April 1-3, 2016
COST: $85 (all inclusive)
REGISTRATION DEADLINE: March 4, 2016

Kudos to LTHS DECA

The following students competed at the 70th annual DECA State conference at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center in San Antonio on Friday 2/26/2016 and won 1st place. They will be headed to the DECA International Career Development conference in Nashville at the end of April. They competed with over 4400 Texas DECA students.
