LeaderForLife | February 9th | Black Box
| |
Please Join Us on Feb 9th at The LTHS Black Box Theatre
Come meet LTISD Deputy Superintendent Mary Patin and learn about the LeaderForLife program. The LTHS PTO will host this event at our next General Membership meeting, Feb 9, starting at 9:15am. Ms. Patin's presentation will begin at 9:30 and last approximately one hour.
Lake Travis ISD presents, 'LeaderForLife'
In June 2015, at the request of the Lake Travis Independent School District Substance Abuse Prevention Advisory Committee, the Lake Travis school board amended policy to expand and strengthen the district's current substance abuse prevention efforts. The amended policy allowed the committee to develop a comprehensive and community-sensitive substance abuse prevention program. The program, better known as LeaderForLife, aims to create and empower a positive peer group of youth committed to leading a chemical-free lifestyle. The program is comprised of four major components: education, leadership, accountability, and voluntary random drug testing.

IMMEDIATE NEED: VOLUNTEER NEEDED ASAP
| |
Nominating Committee Volunteer Needed ASAP
Most of the LTHS PTO's activities do not require spending lots of time in (and out) of school (remember what it was like at elementary or middle school?!) Much of what we do as elected board members can be done remotely at any time of day. HOWEVER, what we cannot do is elect board members if we have no candidates. And we cannot have candidates without a nominating committee. :-) We only need one or two more volunteers to get started. Please contact Babita TODAY to help out.
Thanks for all you do to support the students and staff of LTHS.

ATTENTION all 9th-11th Grade Students!
| |
It's hard to imagine that it is already time to sign up for courses for next year. Counselors started meeting with current Juniors last Fall and have been meeting, and are continuing to meet, with Freshmen and Sophomore students through CAVtime. Course selections must be entered by students online through Career Cruising and course choice sheets to the counseling office are due next Wednesday, February 10th.
The Course Catalog, grade level course choice sheets, and much more helpful registration information are available on the Counseling webpage
We appreciate your help with the course registration process so that we can do our best to meet your requests to have all the courses offered and scheduled as needed for next year. Remember all students must go online to Career Cruising and enter their course selections by Wednesday, February 10th!

The team at TEDxLakeTravisHigh would like to invite you to take part in an exciting opportunity to connect with the TED2016 Conference taking place in Vancouver, Canada from February 15-18. We in Lake Travis have the unique opportunity to invite our community to the OPENING session of the TED Conference via live-streaming at our own Cinemark Hill Country Galleria, on February 15th at 7:00 PM
Here is what we know so far about the content of the TED2016 opening session: It kicks off with a TEDx star, 10-yr-old Ishita Katyal, who will share her DREAM for the future she is inheriting. From there we have a spectacular vision of the future from the head of Alphabet/Google's X group Astro Teller, an amazing and slightly terrifying biotech talk from Riccardo Sabatini, the incomparable Shonda Rhimes, a return to the TED stage from the multi-million-views TED speaker Dan Pallotta, and a closing performance/talk from the iconic choreographer Bill T Jones. They also promise to have a couple of other wonderful surprises up their sleeves.
Don't miss this unique opportunity!
Sincerely,
Lamar Schrader,
Koby Wheeler,
