On Sunday October 19th a rising star is coming to Johns Creek UMC. Hailed by the New York Times as "a voice with considerable warmth," lyric-soprano, Sarah Davis has been recognized nationally as a gifted performer both on the recital and operatic stage. The 2014 American prize winning soprano's program will consist of arias, art songs and American folk songs. This is a free event.

RECREATION MINISTRY CELEBRATION
On October 26 the church will celebrate the Recreation Ministry of Johns Creek UMC. The church will recognize anyone who has ever participated or coached in the Recreation Ministry in the 20 plus years of its existence. Kids who have participated are encouraged to wear their old rec jerseys to worship on this Sunday.

JOY SENIOR ADULT MINISTRY
This month we will have a covered dish luncheon on Friday, October 17, at noon in the chapel. You will receive an email this weekend concerning the menu, and as always we will remind you with an automated call a few days before the luncheon. After lunch we will play Bingo with lots of 'wonderful' prizes. Our November luncheon (11/21) will feature comedian Bob Roberts and in December (12/12) we will have a Christmas program presented by the Preschool four year old children.

Making Sense of the Bible addresses the hot-button issues that plague the church and cultural debate, and answers many of the questions frequently asked by Christians and non-Christians alike. Facilitator: Rev. Mike Selleck.  Class meets in Room 209 for 6 weeks beginning October 15. Cost is $15.

SIGN UP FOR THE 
SIXTH ANNUAL TRUNK-N-TREAT
The 6th annual Trunk-n-Treat will be held Sunday, October 26, 2014, from 5:30-6:30pm in the parking lot near the soccer fields. Families or groups of friends may sponsor a trunk, decorate it, and pass out treats. To reserve your parking spot you may either sign up on Wednesday nights, Sunday mornings or email your reservation to   [email protected].

ANNUAL UMM CAMPOUT
7th Annual Father-Child Event
October 10-12, 2014
Camp Glisson Outpost
Purpose: to help men get to know their kids and each other better and to provide additional positive male role model opportunities for their children. Activities include games, hiking, mission project, free time with kids, fellowship, campfires, Sunday service. The cost is $22/person (family max=$75). UMM BREAKFAST
October 19th at 8:00 in the Chapel
The next United Methodist Men's breakfast is Sunday, October 19 from 8-9:00. These breakfasts give the opportunity for men of the church to spend time in fellowship with other church members, get to know them, and share ideas on better understanding the role of our Christian faith in our day to day lives. HALLOWEEN COSTUME COLLECTION
The UMW is collecting new and gently used Halloween costumes for the children at Rainbow Village. Please drop your donations off at the marked bins at the Welcome Desk outside the Family Life Center anytime between now and October 26. Please put costumes in Ziploc bags labeled by size and gender.
