Cosmetic Contract Manufacturer Expands in Greater Reading

PhytogenX Inc., a cosmetic contract manufacturing company expanded to a larger facility in Greater Reading to accommodate the company's continued growth.

"One of the benefits of expanding in Berks County was the excellent workforce," said Julie Knox, President of PhytogenX Inc., "we have a great workforce and we didn't want to lose them." Knox also mentioned the lower cost of doing business as another benefit of staying in Berks County.
Greater Reading Ranks in Top 10 Best Cities for Living Wage 
 
Since 2010, there are 28 U.S. metropolitan areas where at least half of the new jobs created pay a living wage, according to analysis from CareerBuilder and Economic Modeling Specialists.

Reading, PA ranks #4 out of 10 on the Best Cities for Living Wage Rating for welders, metal & plastic machine workers. This ranking is based on CareerBuilder and Economic Modeling Specialists' labor market analysis of the 150 largest metro areas in the country, with a special emphasis on jobs that pay a living wage for households with two adults and one child.
Berks Manufacturing Day 


Our community continues to work to close the technical skills gap to meet current and future workforce demands. In an ongoing effort to fill the workforce pipeline GREP presents "Berks Manufacturing Day" Saturday, October 3, 2015 from 8 a.m. to noon.

Participants will have the opportunity to meet with local companies and training facilities in addition to tours of local manufacturing companies - American Crane & Equipment Corporation, Brentwood Industries, Cambridge-Lee Industries, East Penn Manufacturing, and Remcon Plastics.

On Saturday, September 12, 100+ professional cyclists raced through Greater Reading, PA on a 120 mile loop. "I was quite humbled by the level of support we received for this race," said race director John Eustice. "The entire community pulled together and cooperated to make a great international sports event."
