Yosemite Sierra Visitors Bureau Newsletter
August, 2013
Yosemite Falls
If you look up the definition of August, you find words like stately, grandeur or dignified. While many of these words, especially grandeur, can and are used to describe Yosemite, it seems like too serious a word for a month chock full of fun events happening throughout California's Gateway to Yosemite.

From Pow Wows to free concerts and car shows, there's a lot going on here, and we're sure you'll see plenty of reasons to make a trip out here this month.

Hope to  see you soon!
Sincerely,

Yosemite Sierra Visitors Bureau

Celebrate National Park Service Birthday with free Yosemite Entry
Valley View Yosemite

The National Park Service may be celebrating its 97th Birthday on August 25, but you'll get the present.

In celebration of the milestone, admission to national parks, including Yosemite, will be free.

In addition to the free entry in to one of the system's most popular parks, Yosemite's rangers have several special presentations planned in the Valley that will display the many services, functions and other duties the national park service performs on a daily basis. It's a great way to get a behind-the-scenes look at what makes Yosemite run.

The NPS was established on August 25, 1916. The United States was the first country in the world to set aside its most significant places as national parks so that they could be enjoyed by all. Today, the NPS cares for 397 national parks throughout the country.
