Huntington Historical Society Seeks Community Stewards!

The Huntington Historical Society has a long served as a primary keeper of Huntington's rich history. We at Leadership Huntington have long appreciated their generous contributions as mentors (and graduates!) of our Flagship Program.

The Society always has a lot going on, especially now as they are engaged in a critical capital campaign to expand and improve their archival space. They offer a number of great events, tend to many of Huntington's artifacts, including a number of landmark properties, and are the keepers of many great stories

This is a great opportunity for people who want to get involved! Service may range from light volunteer work to full board commitment, with new board members to be selected in April of 2015. Of particular interest in the Board Search are business people who represent different ethnic groups and diverse interests of the community of  Huntington: East Northport, Melville, Huntington Station, Elwood, Centerport, Greenlawn, Northport.

Have an interest? Know of someone they should reach out to? Please contact Marie Failey by phone at 631-897-9858 or by email, [email protected]. Thanks!!!

It's a great thing to share with someone who cares!

"Leadership Huntington opens your eyes to many different facets of our community and how a real community works, from the intricacies of politics and business (both large and small businesses and how they work together) to the infrastructure that makes a Town work, to the history behind development of the Town, the arts and volunteerism, etc...the list goes on and on. The program also allows you to make new contacts in a wide variety of fields that you may never have become involved in. It is amazing how quickly we all started to reach out to each other for business as well as social opportunities.

While the commitment is significant, the benefits and friendships developed far outweigh the effort. I would highly recommend Leadership Huntington to anyone interested in not only learning about the inner workings of the Town of Huntington, but also to anyone interested in furthering their education and career opportunities through the relationships that develop over the course of the 10 month program."   ~ Ray Homburger, PSEG, Habitat for Humanity, Moonjumpers Charitable Fdn, Class of 2013

"Leadership Huntington is the only program on Long Island that pulls together folks from all segments of the community to gain skills, understand the Town and learn from each other with any level of depth." ~ Eric Alexander, Vision Long Island, Class of 1999

"The Leadership Huntington Flagship Program opened many doors for me and I am grateful. I learned a great deal through the program, established valuable contacts, and made great friends."
~ Pilar Moya-Mancera, Debt Counselor, Friends of HSLQ, Class of 2010

"The experiences and the new relationships that I have gained through the program will help me continue to deepen my involvement in our community. This will also allow me to be part of the process to make it a better place to do business, raise a family, and maintain its world class status." ~Vita Scaturro, Huntington Township Chamber of Commerce, Townwide Fund, Moonjumpers Charitable Fdn, Lt. Joseph Petrosino Assoc in America, Class of 2012

"I am so impressed by the diversity of people who make up my Leadership Huntington class. We have a great mix of life experience, professions, and personalities, and it's evident that every
one is eager to be here. I believe a major reason why we have such productive meetings is that this program came at the right time for each of us; we're all in a place where we're looking for a next step to expand our networks and perspectives." ~ Melissa Boo, EmPower Solar, Locally LI, Class of 2014

Craig Rider

"What an incredible program you're running!!! I have worked with many Executive Directors and I don't know of any that have packed so much actual meat into their sessions. Keep up the good work. I am going to forward your message to the leadership association as an example of program  excellence in action!"  - Craig Rider, The Rider Group
