The Texas Bootstrap Loan Program
$600,000 is available right now!
The Texas Bootstrap Loan Program is a self-help housing construction program that provides very low-income families (Owner-Builders) an opportunity to purchase or refinance real property on which to build new housing or repair their existing homes through "sweat equity." Owner-builder's household income may not exceed 60% of Area Median Family Income.
All Owner-Builders are required to provide at least 65% of the labor necessary to build or rehabilitate their housing by working with a state-certified Nonprofit Owner-Builder Housing Provider (NOHP). There are various ways for how Owner-Builders may fulfill their sweat equity requirement. They may contribute the labor personally; they may build or rehabilitate housing for others; and/or they may receive noncontract labor assistance from friends, family, or volunteers. If the Owner-Builder has a documented disability or other limiting circumstances and cannot provide any of the personal labor required, he or she may fulfill their sweat equity requirement entirely through noncontract labor assistance from friends, family, or volunteers.
All construction activity in the Texas Bootstrap Loan Program must be under the supervision of a state certified NOHP.
The maximum Bootstrap loan may not exceed $45,000 per household.
Amy Young Barrier Removal Program
The Amy Young Barrier Removal Program provides one-time grants of up to $20,000 to Persons with Disabilities in a Household qualified as low income. Grants are for home modifications that increase accessibility and correct hazardous and unsafe conditions. Currently has $600,000 available.
Art Place: Community Development Investments
ArtPlace America is accepting applications from place-based non-governmental organizations (NGOs) with a primary mission of community planning and development for its Community Development Investments program. ArtPlace will select one NGO in each of six geographical regions that is interested in sustainably incorporating arts and cultural strategies into the organization's work. This one-time grant program will provide up to $3 million in funding per organization.
The Home Depot Foundation's (THDF) Veteran Housing Grants Program awards grants to nonprofit organizations for the development and repair of veterans housing. To date, the Foundation has awarded nearly $80 million, and has helped impact over 12,000 units of housing for veterans. Awards typically range from $100,000 to $500,000.
Home Depot Foundation: Community Impact Grants
Grants, up to $5,000, are available to IRS-registered 501c designated organizations and tax-exempt public service agencies in the U.S. that are using the power of volunteers to improve the physical health of their community. Grants are given in the form of The Home Depot gift cards for the purchase of tools, materials, or services.
The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) State Energy Program (SEP) provides funding and technical assistance to state and territory energy offices to help them advance their clean energy economy while contributing to national energy goals.
FHLB: Affordable Housing Program
The 2015 submission deadline for Affordable Housing Program (AHP) applications is March 17, 2015. FHLB Dallas wants to help with free, informative webinars that explain how to prepare a successful AHP application. Make plans to participate today. There are options designed for rental and owner-occupied projects. Pick the one that is right for you. This webinar is open to members, as well as community-based organizations.
