NJHS Awarded a Meadows Foundation Grant
Congratulations to our National Junior Honor Society chapter for being selected as a Meadows Foundation Grant recipient!  The grant award of $500 will be used to purchase infant car seats for Project Gabriel, a ministry of the Catholic Pro-Life Committee.  According to the grant letter written by NJHS members An Cao and An Vu, "Our goal for this project is to encourage these future mothers to keep their babies instead of considering abortion by providing them with immediate material needs for the babies."
We are so proud of our NJHS for taking on such a worthy endeavor!

NEWS

Registration for the 2015-2016 school year begins in January.
Open House Dates:
Thursday, January 15th, 9:45 am, for Early Learning families
Tuesday, January 20th, 9:30 am, St. Joseph Room

Thank You!

Thank you so much to all of our families who have brought in treats, flowers, and baked goods this week!  You have spoiled us, and we are so thankful for your generosity!  We wish each of our SJCS families a blessed Christmas and a very Happy New Year!

Yearbook Photo Submissions

Members of the 8th grade will be creating the yearbook this year. We are asking for parents to submit photos that can be used for the yearbook. There is no guarantee that every photo submitted will be used, but we definitely want pictures from our parents! Click here to submit photos. If you are asked to give a school ID, our number 401854312.  Once you've uploaded your photos, you will be prompted to give a name, grade level, and description.  The yearbook staff only needs the grade and the event as the description...no names are necessary!  Example: 4th grade, Perot Field Trip.  Please contact Mrs. Pudenz at dpudenz@stjosephccschool.net with questions.  Thank you!

Saint of the Month

Saint Peter Faber

Peter Faber (Favre) was born on April 13, 1506, in the village of Villaret, Savoy. As a youth, he shepherded his father's flock on the high pastures of the Alps and had no other education than what one received at home. He was endowed, however, with an extraordinary memory; he could hear a sermon in the morning and repeat it verbatim in the afternoon for his friends. He longed to go to school, but his family was too poor.   Saint Peter Faber is known as the "quiet one" of the early Jesuits, and Pope Francis has said St. Faber is a personal spiritual model for him. St. Faber was canonized December 17, 2013.

    Virtue of the Month   Gentleness

Gentleness means to be ready to do whatever is good, to slander no one, to be peaceable, to be considerate, and to show true humble gentleness toward everyone. It includes the idea of springing to the help of those in need, yet keeping our own feelings under control.

Gentleness is never  false modesty, self-depreciation, or a spineless refusal to stand for anything. Gentleness never avoids trouble in ways that allow even greater trouble to develop. Gentleness is not a false humility that fails to recognize that we all have been given talents and abilities or refuses to use them for good.
