Greetings!
It's cold out. Your spending more time indoors, and maybe you've noticed the energy is off in your home. Or perhaps you moved to a new or old house and you definitely feel that some spiritual cleansing is in order. Sometimes someone moves out of your home, or other circumstances change and you just want to clear a space of any negative energies.
At this time of year, with Candlemas or Imbolc just around the corner, it is a good time to clear out the prior year's energy so you can start fresh and new, sort of preparing the ground for new ideas and new energies to bloom and support you. Whether it is your home, your office or a dedicated temple space, we have the tools you need to clean things up energetically.
Sage Smudging is one of the most traditional and common ways to clear and bless a space or an object. Smudging is simple and direct: Just light the sage bundle, blow it out so it smolders, and walk around the room or house, fanning the smoke. This works for most home clearing needs.
Sometimes people ask if there is an alternative, either because they do not like the scent or because they don't like smoke or because they've tried smudging with sage and it isn't as effective in their space. Of course, we offer smokeless smudge spray for those who can't do a smokey smudge. We also offer a Sage Candle, as well.
If the Scent of Sage Doesn't appeal to you, we have Palo Santo (Holy Wood). Palo Santo wood is the blessing wood traditionally used in South American Cultures.
Now we have a third option at the Eye-Sahumerio Shaman Blend Incense-which includes Palo Santo as its main ingredient. It also adds more herbs in a mix of plants which is used in Peru by Shamans for house clearings. Check out our blog for a complete article about this powerful purifying blend of herbs>
All of these, plus the classes coming up this weekend and next week are in this newsletter.
Blessed Be, Walk in Wisdom and all that Jazz,

Palo Santo Smudge Stick
Palo Santo Holy Wood
Palo Santo (Burseara Graveolens) literally means "Holy Wood." When it is burned, the sacred smoke provides energetic protection, removes bad energy, uplifts the spirit and brings good luck. Traditionally used by the Incas and indigenous people of the Andes, it is a spiritual remedy for purifying and cleansing, and it also gets rid of evil spirits and misfortune.
Palo Santo has been used for thousands of years in Peru and Ecuador by shamans, curanderos and healers in ceremonies and healing rituals. It is even good as a mosquito repellant and traditional headache remedy. The Palo Santo tree in both countries is protected by the national government and can only be harvested under strict conditions. Each stick is approximately 3 1/2" long and 1/4 to 1/2 inch in diameter.
To Use: light one end, and allow to burn for about 1/2 minute then blow the flame out. The smoldering end produces the smoke, which is wafted with a hand or feather or fan to bless a space or a person. When done, smother the smoking end in sand or water to completely stop the burn. The Palo Santo stick may be relit many times.
A close relative of frankincense, the scent of Palo Santo is similar to that middle-eastern resin, with an overnote of citrus.

New! Sahumerio Shaman Incense
Sahumerio Shaman Blend
Sahumerio literally means perfuming with incense. This Sahumerio mixture is the combination of Palo Santo, Eucalyptus, Rosemary, Alucema (Lavender) and Myrrh. This incense mix is traditionally used by shamans in Peru to do ceremonies for purify houses and take out the bad energy. Creates a protective boundary, as well. Find out more about all the ingredients and their purpose>
If you've never used loose incense, it takes a bit of setup, but as a result, you get the purest incense blend and can control how much smoke you need. This is the most traditional way to burn incense.
To burn loose incense, you basically need to create a tiny charcoal grill or fire-pit using a small charcoal tablet in a heat safe dish and used to smudge an area, person or an object.. You can either put sand or ash in the bottom or use a piece of metal screen that is bent around the edges to let it stand an inch or so off the bed of sand (most brass traditional incense burners come with one). That way you can scrape ashes from the top of your charcoal into the bottom before adding new items to burn.
- Light the edge of a charcoal while holding it with a utensil (tweezers or very small tongs work great!)
- Place one or two lit charcoals (side by side, never stacked) in center of burner or on top of the wire mesh or sand.
- Wait until the entire charcoal is red-hot, it should be a light gray all over... 4-7 minutes or so. If the incense is not completely hot, the incense may smother the charcoal and put it out.
- Sprinkle a pinch or two of the incense next to or directly on top of the hot charcoal to release the fragrance and produce smoke (you may want to pick a spot away from a smoke alarm to burn your incense). Again, you don't want to smother the charcoal.
- Continue to sprinkle incense on the hot coal as desired.

Smokeless Smudge Spray
Smokeless Smudge Spray
Discover the pure alternative to burning sage. Whether you need to change the energy or just lighten the air, just one spritz and the wonderful aroma of this spray creates a clean and blessed atmosphere. This quick and easy smudge spray uses only a traditional plant blend of sweetgrass, sage and cedar for energy cleansing and ritual use.
Sage + Cedar + Sweetgrass = Pure Plant PowerOur smokeless smudge spray uses only the fragrant oils & essences of these three traditional smudge plants in a spray bottle of 'liquid smudge' for you to use anywhere or anytime smoke is inconvenient. Here are the traditional properties of the essential/fragrance oils blended in our smudging spray mist: - Sweetgrass is considered sacred by many native peoples of North America. It is said to purify and clear objects, places, and people.
- Sage is used worldwide in traditional energy-cleansing ceremonies-the sage essence attaches to negative energy and folds it back in itself to transform the negative energy into positive energy. Some say sage summons courage, wards off jealousy, increases mental acuity, and attracts prosperity.
- Cedar is often used in the sweat lodge (and in the Scandinavian equivalent-the Sauna). The scent of cedar attracts good spirits and eliminates negative energies.
There are only three other ingredients in our liquid smudge spray: Purified water, corn-based surfactant (which allows the oil and water to mix and mist), and vegetable glycerin to help the plant essences disperse. Locally Crafted to be Naturally Pure.

Florida Water
This is a uniquely American solution. Florida Water is a refreshing & stimulating floral & citrus scented cologne often used for ritual offering & purification. Just opening a bottle and leaving it in a room is said to purify the air of bad spirits and energies.
Many people also now use it to cleanse their candles and altar tools before use, replacing the more traditional Bay Rum which was once preferred for the purpose by magical spell casters.
Florida Water is also used in spells to remove unwanted thought forms & heavy vibrations, to encourage the display of emotions, to suppress those who talk too much & to calm places where an excess of energy is present.
To use Florida Water as a cleansing or purifying agent: - Mix with distilled water and use it as a spray.
- Sprinkle directly on your hands, or in the bath.
- Use as a floor wash (just add a little to your mop water) to purify a space.
- As an offering:Put in a small bowl or dish on an ancestor or saint altar.
