Can You Give Two Hours to Feed Hungry Children?
St. Anne's is seeking volunteers to work with Cornerstones and Fairfax County serving lunch to children at the Cedar Ridge Community Center. The program provides summer nutrition to school-age children who are entitled to free or reduced price meals during the school year. St. Anne's volunteers work with Cornerstones staff to set up the lunchroom, serve the meals provided by the county, clean up and get acquainted with the Cedar Ridge community. The program runs from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Monday through Friday from June 22 through August 28 serving between 30 and 50 children daily.
This is the fifth year that St. Anne's has worked with the program and we are looking for volunteers aged 16 (great for school Community Service hours) and up. We need volunteers who can commit to specific days (your commitment does not have to be every week) as well as substitutes. A brief orientation will be provided by Cornerstones staff at Cedar Ridge. For more information or to volunteer, contact Carol Hurlburt (703-264-9054).

Family Gatherings
Let's celebrate a great school year and the warmer weather with an outdoor BBQ at the June Family Gathering. On Saturday, June 13 from 3:00-6:00 p.m. bring something for the grill for your family and a side dish or dessert to share. We are in need of someone to be "grill master" at this event: arrive around 2:45 p.m., fire up the grills, set up a few tables outside, and set out the plates, napkins, condiments, etc. St. Anne's will supply those items; we just need your help in setting up. If you are able to serve as "grill master" and/or you would like to attend the BBQ, please click here to sign up so we know how many folks to expect. RAIN PLAN: If the weather is stormy, we'll skip this BBQ and look for you at the July 18 Family Gathering. Questions? Contact Rev. Laura.

Cuba 2016
We are pleased to share that planning for our next Cuba mission trip has begun! We hope that these mission trips to Cuba will become a more permanent part of St. Anne's mission offerings. The 2016 trip will be St. Anne's third trip to Cuba. During the previous two trips, mission trip members have worked closely with the Bishop of Cuba, and St. Anne's has developed a great relation with the Bishop and her office. During our planned 2016 trip to Cuba a representative from the Diocese of Virginia will be joining us, and we will engage in a work project. The dates for our next trip will be January 8 - 18, 2016. There will be more information available in the coming weeks, so please stay tuned. On Sunday, May 24 the Cuba and Dominican Republic missions will be hosting coffee hour. We look forward to sharing our experiences with the congregation and THANK YOU for your support of our Caribbean missions.
