Candlelight Vigil for the People of West Africa Please join us Sunday, Nov. 2 at 6:00 p.m. on Lake Anne Plaza for a Candlelit Vigil for the people of West Africa. St. Anne's is organizing this event and is reaching out to the community to join us. We encourage you to invite others to this interfaith event. All are welcome. If you have any questions, please contact the Church Office. |

Shrine Mont is This Weekend
The annual church retreat to Shrine Mont is this weekend. We are excited to have what we believe to be a record number of people attending: 158! Everyone who is attending should have received an email from Susan with details for the weekend. If you did not, please call or email the Church Office (703-437-6530)
We have a great weekend planned! The theme of discussion on Saturday will be Live in the Now! This session will feature small group discussions around the idea of technology in our everyday lives. Also, those who are attending are reminded that this weekend will be cold at Shrine Mont -- so dig out those gloves, hats and winter coats! We will also be celebrating Halloween on Friday with a costume parade and trick or treating -- come prepared for that too! |

Thanksgiving Boxes Coming Soon!
One of our favorite local outreach opportunities, Thanksgiving Boxes for Cornerstones is coming soon. We have a new goal this year to provide
100 Thanksgiving dinners to needy families served in Reston in a collaborative effort with Cornerstones. Starting Sunday, Nov. 2 there will be boxes in the Narthex with a sign-up sheet listing items needed for each box. In order to accommodate this newly increased goal (and lack of box storage space) we are starting a new tradition of letting you take the box home to fill! Please return your box to St. Anne's by Sunday, Nov. 16. All monetary donations and gift cards should be marked for Thanksgiving Boxes and left in Tim's mailbox. We will also need volunteers to help check the returned boxes on Monday, Nov. 17 at 7 p.m., and to deliver the boxes on Thursday, Nov. 20 at 1 p.m. to a local donation site in Reston. Click here to sign up to deliver Thanksgiving baskets. Questions? Please contact Robin George.

Give the Gift of Warmth this Christmas
Being homeless is hard any time of year, but especially at Christmas. St. Anne's is working with the nearby Church of the Epiphany to provide a hypothermia shelter Christmas week. This is an extremely volunteer-intensive effort, and the shelter needs as much help as it can get. Please give from your heart to provide the least fortunate among us with the gift of warmth this Christmas. Friends or family visiting? Bring them with you and create a new family tradition! Must be 18 or over. Click here to reserve your time slot. For more information contact David Safford (202-494-3041).

Coats for Newly Released Prisoners
Help provide a warm, fresh start to those who are newly released from prison. OAR (Opportunities, Alternatives and Resources) of Fairfax needs gently used men and women's coats, size AS to AXXL This begins Sunday, Nov. 2 through the middle of March. We are also in need of monthly volunteers to help us pick up the coats once a week and deliver them to OAR in Fairfax. As space is limited, please only donate warm, winter coats.
