Serving the Community

In conjunction with our monthly food pantry, St. Anne's volunteers pick up produce from Capital Area Food Bank in Lorton and deliver the produce to SPARC, a group that provides structured activities for people with disabilities and meets regularly at Southgate Community Center. The folks at SPARC bag the produce, which this month was potatoes, sweet potatoes and apples. We got a very nice note from SPARC this week that we wanted to share with you:  "We wanted to just say thanks for letting us be part of this project. It fills our friends with immense feelings of pride in their abilities to contribute to such an important job and giving of themselves...they talked quite a bit about teamwork today."  Our involvement with SPARC is a great example of St. Anne's multi-layered involvement in the community: not only serving the community ourselves, but allowing others to offer service through us. If you would like to become more involved with this activity, please contact George Bounacos.
