Summer is a Great Time to Become an Acolyte!

There will be a one-hour ACOLYTE TRAINING SESSION and pizza party on Sunday, June 1 immediately following the 10:00 a.m. service (approx. 11:45 a.m.). Rising 5^th graders and older are invited to be an integral part of worship at St. Anne's by joining the acolyte corps. No experience is necessary to be part of this fun and important ministry, but attending a training session before serving is encouraged. Rev. Laura and our wonderful group of experienced acolytes will help you learn what you need to get started. Parents are encouraged to stay during the training to learn about acolyte scheduling and expectations. Please RSVP and direct any questions to Kelly Cosgrove.

St. Anne's Roundtable Discussion

Please join us on Tuesday, June 3 at 9:30 at the South Lakes Starbucks. Join Father Jim or Rev. Laura for a cup of coffee and a friendly discussion. If the weather is good, we may be outside. Look for us!

Final Play of the 2013-14 St. Anne's Theater Series

A reminder to those who have signed up for the St. Anne's Theater Series: We are scheduled to see Freud's Last Session on Saturday, June 7 at Theater J. We have a large bus chartered as there are 41 of us signed up for this show. The bus will be in the St. Anne's parking lot by 6:15 or so. We hope to have a short discussion of the play following the performance. I hope that you will all be able to attend. If you are not able to attend, please contact Jimmy Hunter or Lorrain Cross and let us know.

Calling All VBS Volunteers!

Please join us for an organizational meeting on Wednesday, June 11 at 6:30 p.m. in the Library. Susan will be handing out teacher books and schedules for this summer's VBS. Please RSVP to Susan. You can also contact Susan with any questions. We look forward to seeing everyone on June 11!

Vacation Bible School Registration is Open!

The website for St. Anne's Vacation Bible School 2014, Workshop of Wonders, Imagine & Build with God, is open! We are going to have a wonderful time! Our dates are Monday, July 21 through Friday, July 25 from 9:15 am to 12:15 pm. Our VBS is open to 4-year-olds through rising 5^th Graders. Click here to register. The cost is $50 per child or $30 per child if a parent is able to volunteer during the week of VBS. (Unfortunately, you will not be able to pay online.) Once you have registered your student (and volunteer :-) please mail a check, made out to St. Anne's for the appropriate amount, with VBS 2014 in the memo line. Mail to: St. Anne's, Attention: Susan Allen, 1700 Wainwright Drive, Reston, VA 20190. Please contact Susan Allen with any questions. We can't wait to see all of you! Registration is closing on Saturday, May 31.

Philadelphia Mission Trip -- Items Needed

Help us help the kids! The Philadelphia Mission Trip team is seeking donated items to take with them to Philadelphia on June 28. They are looking for craft supplies and summertime fun items such as: new bathing suits (in child/youth sizes), basketballs, footballs, kick balls, Frisbees, jump ropes, sidewalk chalk, UNO card decks, stickers, plastic craft lacing (gimp), multi-colored yarn, jumbo crayons, markers, and colored paper. Target gift cards welcome. All donations are greatly appreciated. Please place your donations in the bin in the Narthex prior to June 26. Thank you for your support!

Youth Group News

The 2^nd Annual MESSY GAMES END OF THE YEAR BBQ is scheduled for Saturday, May 31 from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Bring a bag of chips, side dish, or dessert to share. Trust us...you're gonna want to wear something you don't mind getting really stained and messy. Seriously, trust us. Questions? Please contact Rev. Laura.

Save the Date: Annual Picnic

Please mark June 8 at 11:30 on your calendar and plan to join us for our Annual Picnic. We will have some delicious bar-be-que and a fun, relaxing time of fellowship. DD BBQ will be providing bar-be-que chicken and pork. Please find a sign up sheet in the Narthex or contact the church office. We ask that you bring a side dish or dessert to share. We'll see you there!

Grill Night!

Grill Night returns June 18 at 6:30 p.m. Bring something to grill on the grill and maybe something to share; enjoy fellowship and the setting sun. A wonderful way to relax and chat after a long day. We are in of a Grill Master to help with set up and minding the grill. If you are interested, please contact Susan.

Sandwiches for the Shelter

Stay tuned for our summer schedule for our next rounds of lunch making for the Embry Rucker Shelter! Children old enough to pack their own lunches are more than welcome! As always, the more volunteers we have, the faster our lunch bagging and sandwich making go -- usually about 45 minutes or so. For more information contact Emily McPhie.

Godly Play Continues into June

Sunday is the last day of Sunday school for the 2013-2014 program year. However, Godly Play continues! With the exception of the first Sunday in June, Godly Play will be offered each Sunday through Sunday, June 22 during the 10:00 a.m. Sunday service for rising 1^st graders and older (May 25, June 8, 15, and 22). Children's Chapel -- Summer 2014

Children's Chapel will be offered this summer during the 10:00 a.m. Sunday services in July and August. Children ages preschool through 5^th grade are invited to participate. Volunteers are needed to lead Children's Chapel; no prior experience necessary! Two volunteers are needed each Sunday to teach the lesson and guide children in the craft. The lesson, craft idea and materials, and snack are provided each week. If you are interested in volunteering, please sign up on the sheet in the Narthex or contact Rev. Laura.
