Easter Music

The St. Anne's choir is now rehearsing for Easter. The music this year will include a performance of John Rutter's Requiem on Good Friday at the 7:30 pm service. This is a beautiful piece that singers love to sing!  We will also sing at services throughout Holy Week beginning on Palm Sunday and culminating on Easter Sunday. If you are a singer and have wondered what it would be like to sing with us, this is the perfect opportunity to experience being a part of the St. Anne's choir. The rehearsal commitment for joining us during this season will be Thursday evening's from 8:00-9:30 p.m. in the Sanctuary. If you can only commit to certain services, please discuss this with me as attendance at all services is not expected. We would love to see you Thursday evening!  If you have any questions please contact me, David Allen.

Thanks, David

Relay for Life Meeting

Is there anyone who doesn't have a family member or friend who has been impacted by cancer? A long standing St. Anne's tradition is the Grateful Living our team at Relay for Life. What is Relay for Life you ask? At Relay For Life events, communities come together to honor cancer survivors, remember loved ones lost, and fight back against a disease that has already taken too much. The funds we raise truly make a difference in the fight against cancer - just ask one of the nearly 14 million cancer survivors who will celebrate another birthday this year! Relay For Life teams camp out overnight and take turns walking or running around a track or path at a local high school, park, or fairground. Events are up to 24 hours long and because cancer never sleeps each team is asked to have at least one participant on the track at all times. We'll be meeting on March 9 at 1 p.m. in Room 1 to talk about Relay for Life, the Grateful Living and how we can invest in research for the American Cancer Society. Please join us.

Food Pantry Update
On Feb. 8 the Stuff the Bus food drive collected 1750 pounds of food for our pantry. It didn't last long on our shelves, though. Our Food Pantry volunteers packed and distributed 1200 pounds or 80 bags of groceries at our Feb. 20 Food Pantry distribution. New this month, in addition to the regular bag of food, we were able to offer the choice of bagels, bread, or muffins. Thanks to the Cowell-Myers family we usually have bagels to hand out. In addition, thanks to a partnership with Panera Bread, we had a table full of baked goods. The pantry keeps growing thanks to your dedication to this mission. We hope to bring you more news about other partnerships and opportunities for you  in the upcoming months. Questions or comments about the pantry?  Contact Susanne Walsh, our food pantry coordinator.

Clean Out your Closets and Donate Coats for OAR

Help provide a warm, fresh start to those who are newly released from prison with your gently used coats. Fairfax OAR (Opportunities, Alternatives, Resources) needs used men's/women's coats, S-XXL. The collection box is in the narthex. This has been a record year for donation, thanks to all who have already given so generously! OAR told us of a man released from prison during a snow storm when everything was closed, but they were able to give him a warm coat for his new life. We also need volunteers to help take the coats to Fairfax weekly. Check out the OAR websiteAny questions, contact Jackie Wooldridge or by calling 703-819-2346.

We all use the Internet in different ways. We now have several different outlets to keep in touch about going on at St. Anne's. Our main web address is at www.stannes-reston.org and an Outreach website at www.stannes-reston.org/outreach.  If you're a Facebook kind of person you can check us out at www.facebook.com/stannesreston and for Outreach at www.facebook.com/OutreachAtStAnnes. You'll find photos, videos and news about recent and upcoming events and get clued in about what we're up to.

On Facebook or Twitter if there's something you particularly like you can comment on it with the hashtag #ilovestannes which connects anyone's posts with that hashtag on them; a great way for you and others to find out what makes St. Anne's so special.
