The Mead Art Museum opens its spring exhibitions on Tuesday, Feb. 16, showcasing eight new works based on the Mead's collection by renowned conceptual artist Tom Friedman in Tom Friedman: Untitled (Foundation), and photographs, video and works on paper by two prominent contemporary South African artists in Second-Hand Reading: William Kentridge and Zanele Muholi.

An opening reception with artist Tom Friedman takes place on Tuesday, February 16, from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m., and is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served.


Interview with Artist Tom Friedman



For his self-titled exhibition, Tom Friedman: Untitled (Foundation), opening next week at the Mead, renowned conceptual artist Tom Friedman has created eight works based on significant parts of the museum's permanent collection. 

He talked recently with the show's organizer, Vanja Malloy, curator of American art at the Mead, about everything from his work process to the philosophy he lives by. Read the interview.
