Work by Amherst Honorary Degree Recipient On View During Commencement Weekend

Award-winning contemporary artist and educator Sonya Clark, Class of 1989, is featured at the Mead in the special installation Interwovenwhich explores the interweaving of tradition, memory, and identity through works of art by four contemporary American artists of African and Afro-Caribbean descent.

Clark, who will receive an honorary degree from Amherst College at commencement on May 24, 2015, delivers the talk "Hair to There and Back Again" on Saturday, May 23, at 11:15 a.m. in the Cole Assembly Room in Converse Hall. 
 

  

Mead Summer Hours Now in Effect

Open Tuesday through Sunday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. with extended hours every Friday until 8 p.m.

  

During Amherst College Reunion, the Mead will be open to the public until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 27 through Saturday, May 30.
