Third cohort graduates from USF Peru program
USF President Judy Genshaft, Provost Ralph Wilcox, and Muma College of Business Dean Moez Limayem all stood onstage at graduation, shook graduates' hands, and said a few words.
The graduates wore caps and gowns and received their USF degrees, much like any other USF commencement ceremony. USF Muma College of Business professor awarded Core Fulbright grant

USF Professor Grandon Gill recently received one of academia's most prestigious awards. Management grad invents product to train tomorrow's baseball players

A recent Muma College of Business graduate is combining a love for baseball and entrepreneurship to bring a new sports product to the market.

Addison Maruszak, who played for the USF baseball team before an MLB career, came up with the idea for the BallsEye, a sports training aid, while completing his bachelor's degree in management. Read more.

The accountants who attended USF's Accounting Circle Conference this month came away with a wealth of information, from how to keep bank accounts safe from cybercriminals to the varying state laws on collecting sales tax from remote internet retailers. Read more.

 

USF Federal Credit Union invests in students' future after remodel - USF Oracle

Compound interest isn't the only thing being gained at the newly reopened USF Federal Credit Union (FCU) located in the Marshall Student Center. The MSC facility is one of five locations in the Tampa Bay Area that service over 48,000 members and control about $500 million in assets. The renovations were done to physically open the location up to customers and to allow a new partnership between the credit union and the Muma College of Business. Read more at the USF Oracle website.

 

Software company learns as it grows with SBDC 
While Eric Blumthal, the co-owner of count5 software company, knows about technology, being a small business has presented challenges outside his realm of experience. Working with the Small Business Development Center, he received a business assessment that included a comprehensive look at the company's financials that made it much easier to make decisions for his business. Alumni Notes
  • Denise D'Aprile ('85, Management) joined Goldstein, Buckley, Cechman, Rice & Purtz, P.A. as partner. D'Aprile focuses her practice primarily on personal injury law. She will work out of the firm's Port Charlotte office.
  • Sabine Jolitz ('10, Accounting) has joined Kerkering, Barberio & Co., Certified Public Accountants, in Sarasota, as a senior accountant in the International Tax segment. 
  • Alvaro Ruiz ('13, Finance) has been hired as an analyst on the Investment Finance team at Citi Private Bank in Miami.

Faculty and Staff Notes
  • Wayne Brass, certified business consultant with the Florida SBDC at Pinellas County Economic Development, has received a 2015 Tibbetts Award from the U.S. Small Business Administration and was formally honored June 15 during a White House ceremony.
  • Maura Cheatham was hired as the advisor for the Zimmerman Advertising Program Living Learning Community.
  • Longtime SBDC consultant Jim Parrish lost his battle with cancer on Aug. 9. He celebrated his 20th year with the Florida SBDC Network this year.
