Student Spotlight: Thang Ryan Nguyen

When USF business student Thang "Ryan" Nguyen moved to the United States from Vietnam, he could barely speak English. Nguyen offered to tutor his classmates in math and science -- subjects in which he excelled -- in exchange for English lessons. Now, he is a leader in the College of Business.

  • At USF's fall commencement, accounting student Ahad Khan was designated a King O'Neal Scholar, recognizing his achievements in graduating from USF with a 4.0 GPA. He was also a 25 Under 25 Recipients during his time at USF.  
  • Accounting Instructor Jennifer Cainas and ISDS Professor Grandon Gill were selected to receive USF's Outstanding Undergraduate Teaching Award for 2013-2014, an award that recognizes the best teachers at the university.   
  • The USF Sport & Entertainment Management program, in partnership with Fox Sports Florida, is hosting a sports lecture series January 13-16. The lecture series will feature some leading thinkers in the sports industry: Eastman and Beaudine CEO Bob Beaudine, ESPN Analyst Andrew Brandt, Women's Tennis Association CEO Stacey Allaster, and "Zebras and Cheetahs" author Colby B. John Avery ('78, Business Administration) has joined the University Park office of RE/MAX Alliance group as a sales associate.

 

Samantha Lutz ('13, Finance & Psychology) joined the marketing department at TAG Alliances. She attended the TAG Alliances 29th International Conference in Munich, Germany, assisting with the management of the three-day event.
