Corporate Mentor Program spurs student success
The students, who are the first in their families to attend college, are starting their careers right after graduation.

In an economic environment where many recent graduates are just struggling to find jobs,
first-generation students at the College of Business are setting the bar high for success.


Of the 14 students in the College of Business's Corporate Mentor Program who graduated in December, all of them have jobs, and 13 have jobs within their field of study. Read More.
Dell Executive teaches innovation
His presentation was the first in a new MBA speaker series.

  Dell Chief Innovation Officer Jim Stikeleather requires that everyone on his innovation team read a science fiction book every year.

"Science fiction does a good job of anticipating the future," he said. "People laugh at me, but then I say, 'How many of you have a StarTrek communicator on your belt?' You all do."

Stikeleather, who holds an MBA from USF, spoke to an audience of MBA students January 10 about the nature of innovation, its function in the economy, and how to be more innovative as an individual. Read More.

The director of the College of Business's newest program has wide-ranging experience in the sports management industry.

Growing up in Pittsburgh, Bill Sutton gained a love of sports watching the Pittsburgh Pirates play.

Years later, he is still fascinated by sports, but by aspects other than the swing of a bat or the curve of a pitch. Now, it's the business of sports that intrigues him. Read More.

 

Fifth Annual Elevator Competition upcoming
The yearly event helps students gain confidence and learn presentation skills.

 Business students everywhere are familiar with the "elevator pitch": the one-minute speech you'd give about yourself and your abilities if you happened to find yourself in the elevator with a recruiter for the job of your dreams.
