KaLyn Davis
Name:  KaLyn Davis

I have two children at Vanderlyn, a Kindergartener and a 3rd Grader. I have a Bachelor of Arts in English and Policy Studies from Rice University and a Master's in Public Affairs and a law degree from the University of Texas at Austin. I have lived in Dunwoody for the better part of 15 years. As a preschool parent, I was a room mom and was responsible for the preschool directory for 2 years. As a Vanderlyn parent, I have served on the Teacher Appreciation Committee and the Literacy/Media Center Committee. This year and next year, I am the Co-Chair of the Literacy/Media Center(library) Committee. I am responsible for coordinating over 30 Media Center volunteers and managing the Teachers' Resource Room (aka Book Room). In fulfilling these commitments, I have gained a significant amount of institutional knowledge. In addition, I frequently help with morning carpool. So, if you use morning carpool, there's a good chance that I've opened your car door at some point. I want to serve on Vanderlyn School Council because I am a firm believer that quality public education is the underpinning of a healthy civil society. I believe that my background in law and public affairs along with my institutional knowledge provides me with a unique perspective that would be valuable in the work of school council.

Why you want to serve on school council:

Vanderlyn is an amazingly supportive and enriching environment for our children. As a parent with multiple students at Vanderlyn now and for many years to come, I am vested in ensuring that it remains a premier center for education. I have personally been a part of and run multiple educational committees on the secondary, college and post-graduate level. As a result, I have the insight and experience to help create policy and positive changes that will benefit all Vanderlyn students. My goal is to help to continue to foster an environment that is nuturing to our children on a personal and educational level. I am excited to work with other parents and administrators on a committee whose goals and focus will be similar. I will be receptive to the thoughts and concerns of parents who are not on the committee so they will also have a voice.

I ask Vanderlyn parents to support me in the endeavor to be on the Vanderlyn School Council.

BayerJudy Limor

Name: My name is Judy Limor. I have lived in Dunwoody with my family since 2006, and have been a Vanderlyn parent for the past seven years.

Grades of children: Jordan - 6th, Abby - 5th, and Eve - K.

Professional experience: I am currently serving in my ninth year as the Assistant Principal at Temima High School for Girls. It is a small, Orthodox Jewish school in the Toco Hills community. At Temima, I supervise the general studies curriculum and faculty, and am responsible for staff development programming. I am also the college and career counselor, teach Leadership and Yearbook to the 12th graders, and handle most disciplinary issues. I have taught elementary school and served as the family educator for my synagogue. I have a B.A. in Elementary Education, an M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction, and am "all but dissertation" on my Ed.D. in Administration and Instructional Leadership.

Volunteer experience: I have served on Vanderlyn's School Council for the past two years, this year as chair. I am also the chair of the Dunwoody Cluster Schools Council. I am the Program Director for Camp Jenny (www.campjenny.org), an annual Memorial Day weekend camp for inner-city Atlanta youth. I have also helped out with Vanderlyn's Vanderdash for the past five years, and am responsible for sound and lighting at Temima's annual production.

Why you want to serve on school council: The education of our community's children is paramount. I take great pride in living in a community where so many people recognize this importance. They say "It takes a village to raise a child," and in Dunwoody especially, we all play a role. These past two years on school council have given me the opportunity to use my background in education in a positive way to benefit both the children and teachers of Vanderlyn and, by extension, the Dunwoody community, and I hope to be able to continue doing so for the next two years.
