Awards Day Updates/ Reminders:
Last school year, all first-fourth grade students who earned Principal's Award and Honor Roll received a lanyard with the designated honor pin. Parents were informed that the lanyard was a one-time keepsake that would be worn in subsequent years on each Awards Day. Each new school year, students can earn additional pins to add to their lanyards. This year, we have made some adjustments to Awards Day to include the opportunity to earn more pins for academic competitions (Spelling Bee, Math/Science Olympiad, etc.). As a result of expanding how students can earn pins, we have decided that ALL students would have a keepsake lanyard. Therefore, only students who did not earn the lanyard through Principal's Honor Roll and Honor Roll last year and new students to Vanderlyn this year will be issued a lanyard. All students are expected to wear their lanyard on the day of their grade level awards ceremony.

SchoolKidz, Inc. - Supply Kids Available.

Vanderlyn PTA will once again offer the service of purchasing school supply kits online! This year, we will be using the convenient services of SchoolKidz, Inc. and their Teacher Tailored® back-to-school supply kit program. Why fight long lines trying to find every single requested item on your child's supply list? Let SchoolKidz do the shopping for you!

SchoolKidz, Inc. offers brand name items, such as Crayola®, Fiskars® and Elmer's® and Staples. Each kit is assembled with exactly what is on your child's supply list. Best of all, the entire package comes in a reusable personalized kit.

This program will save you time, making "back-to-school time" less hectic and more enjoyable for both students and parents. We believe you will find the pricing to be very reasonable. All kits will be delivered to the school and will be available for pick up at Meet and Greet in August.

The sale will run from May 1 through May 31, and no orders can be accepted after that date.

Quote of the Week

If we had no winter, the spring would not be so pleasant; if we did not sometimes taste of adversity, prosperity would not be so welcome.
