Principal's Message - "And So I Say Thank You...."

Dear Viking Families,

As we prepare for the Thanksgiving holidays, I want to express my gratitude to you for all of your support and generosity through Annual Fund, volunteerism and overall presence as we kicked off another great school year.  We are so proud of all the teaching and learning that occurs at high levels each day.  Through our collaborative efforts, we had a very successful start to the school year.

During this month of Thanksgiving, I have been reflecting on the things I am most grateful for. Primary among them is our talented group of students, teachers and parents. Thank you for the work you do to make our school great. You help us provide a superior education to our students. Without your commitment to excellence, continuous support, and high standards, we would not be the thriving educational powerhouse we are. I am very grateful for your efforts. I wish you a Thanksgiving filled with abundance and bright moments.

Your proud leader!
Tracey Crenshaw

Toy Drive December 2 - 6
The Vanderlyn PTA and Citizenship Committee will be hosting our annual toy drive December 2 through 6 in conjunction with the Dunwoody Police Department.  Black Friday is fast approaching, and great deals are plentiful, so please consider purchasing a toy to donate.  Please do not wrap these toys, they  should be in their original packaging.  Some great toy ideas are dolls, cars & trucks, puzzles, Legos and board games.  Your donations will be greatly appreciated.

Sincerely,
The Citizenship Committee
Author, Eric Litwin Visiting December 4

We are excited to announce our first author visit of the school year!  Eric Litwin, #1 New York Times Best-Selling Author of the first four Pete the Cat picture books and also an Award Winning Musician, will be reading and singing to our students on Wednesday, December 4.

Vanderlyn will not be selling books as part of Mr. Eric's appearance.  However, he will sign any of his book titles below if students want to bring their personal copies to school.  Students must bring these books to their teachers by Tuesday, December 3.  Please include a sticky note inside the front cover with the student's name, teacher name, and grade.

Before sending in a Pete the Cat book to get signed, please confirm that it is one of these titles written by Eric Litwin.  Any other Pete the Cat books are written by a different author.

1.  Pete the Cat I Love My White Shoes
2.  Pete the Cat Rocking in My School Shoes
3.  Pete the Cat and His Four Groovy Buttons
4.  Pete the Cat Saves Christmas

Thank You Vanderlyn Families
Dear Vanderlyn Families,

Thank you so much for your generosity and support in helping to make our November food drive a success.  Here is a note from Kathy, the director at Malachi's Food Storehouse: "We fed 170 families today and will likely feed 200 plus the day before Thanksgiving.....so HUGE thanks to you."

Thank you everyone who sent in food for this great cause!

Sincerely,
The Citizenship Committee
