Co-Presidents' Message

The PTA is excited to unveil a new spin on the already popular International Night. Passport to the World is our social and educational event allowing for students to have exposure to many cultures and simultaneously allow for all of the cultures at Vanderlyn to be proudly represented.  This event will have an Epcot feel to it, being held outdoors with stations representing various countries.  The stations will share pieces of their culture such as food, music, language, artistry and customs. Many activities are planned, and it is fantastic how so many different folks have come together to make this night happen!

Planning for this fantastic event began last spring! Historically, the International Committee hosted International Night, which became a marquee event for our school. Attendance for International Night was so strong that overcrowding was a consideration, so Passport to the World was conceptualized to alleviate some of the problems of overcrowding.

Please plan to attend this terrific event this Friday, October 18 from 5 to 7 p.m. Our students are citizens of the world and will someday work with and compete against people globally. Passport to the World is a step towards showing our kids how marvelous the world is outside of Dunwoody!

Have a great week!

Julia LeDoyen and Christine Kelemen

Don't forget that this week is Vanderlyn's Fall Merchant Rebate Drive Week!  Starting on Tuesday and going through Friday, students can turn in their Box Tops and Campbell's Labels for Education to their homeroom teacher.  Please use the zip lock baggie included in last Thursday's VIP and don't forget to fill out the label on the front of the zip lock bag.

We are striving for 100% participation!  Let's make this Vanderlyn's best collection to date!  Every label counts!!!

So grab your scissors, snip away, and send those labels in!!!
Reflections Committee Needs your Help!

On behalf of the Vanderlyn PTA, we'd like to thank all of the Vanderlyn students who participated in the Reflections Contest this year.  School winners will be announced in the coming weeks, and those students will advance to the county level.

And now it's time for students to once again submit their ideas for the Reflections Program Theme Search.  The grand prize winner will receive $100 and will have his or her winning theme presented at the National PTA Convention in Austin, Texas next June.  Next year's theme, "The World Would Be A Better Place If. . ." has already been chosen, but we invite students to come up with their own award-winning ideas for the 2015-2016 Reflections Contest.  More information can be found on the Vanderlyn website

Deadline for entries is Friday, November 1 at 8 a.m. and entries can be submitted into the drop box marked "Reflections Theme Search" in the front hallway of the school.

Please email committee chairs Louisa Boss or Camilyn Germann with questions.
