Box Top Blitz! October 15 - 18

It's almost time for our Fall Merchant Rebate Drive! Vanderlyn will be collecting Box Tops and Campbell's Labels for Education from October 15 to 18.  Directions will come home in this Thursday's VIP.

Each one of these labels provides a direct and tangible benefit to our school.  Box Tops earn $0.10 cash for our school/label! If each student in our school were to turn in just ten labels, we would earn over $700! Twenty each, and that is over $1,400! You can find Box Tops on any General Mills Products - GoGurts, Juicy Juice, Cereals, Fruit Snacks, etc.

Campbell's Labels allow for our teachers to choose from a long list of important instructional resources. Campbell's Labels are most often found on soup products but can also be found on other items such as Danimals.

Help support our incredible school by going on a merchant rebate label hunt today!

School Pictures are In!

Your child should have received his or her individual and class photos in last Thursday's VIP.  Please decide which photos you would like to keep.  You may pay with cash or a check made out to Lifetouch. There is a price list and envelope included in the photo package. Please return all payments and pictures you do not wish to purchase to your child's homeroom teacher.

Please remember all students have a blue background.  We are sorry that Lifetouch was unable to provide the multiple colors listed on the flyer.  There is no obligation to buy, and we hope you all enjoy the cute smiles!  The deadline to return picture money and photos is Friday, October 11.

If your child was absent for picture day, or you would like to have a retake, the date will be Thursday, November 14. Please send the photo package back to the homeroom teacher with RETAKE written on the outside of the photo package, and we will add your child to the list for retake day.

Thank you,

The Yearbook Committee

Chick-fil-A Spirit Night
Chick-fil-A

Plan to attend SPIRIT NIGHT at Chick-Fil-A on Thursday, October 10 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.  Fifteen percent of the purchases made by Vanderlyn families will be donated to the school. Chick-Fil-A is located at Perimeter Pointe next to Babies-R-Us. Don't miss this chance to spend an evening socializing with other Vanderlyn families while supporting the school!
Have you Seen the Beautiful Vanderlyn Campus?

The Vanderlyn PTA Grounds Committee would like to thank the North Atlanta Church of Christ volunteers that helped beautify the grounds on Saturday, September 28. Approximately 20 volunteers arrived Saturday morning ready to work!

The focus was on beautifying the carpool entrances of the school, which included building flower beds around the marquis sign and the annual fund sign, as well as distributing grass seed. The group also moved dirt and mulch around to various areas at the school.

Thank you, North Atlanta Church! We also thank Northside Tree for the mulch deliveries and DeKalb County School System for the topsoil delivery.

If you are interested in joining the Grounds Committee, contact Dawn Weterrings or Sarah Parrish.

Reflections Committee Needs your Help!

The Reflections committee needs volunteers to process the artwork submitted by our Vanderlyn artists. We will convene Friday, October 11 from 9 - 11 am. Join us for this limited time as many hands make light work! Please email committee chairs Louisa Boss or Camilyn Germann if you plan to help.

On behalf of the Vanderlyn PTA, we'd like to thank all of the Vanderlyn students who participated in the Reflections Contest this year.  School winners will be announced in the coming weeks, and those students will advance to the county level.

And now it's time for students to once again submit their ideas for the Reflections Program Theme Search.  The grand prize winner will receive $100 and will have his or her winning theme presented at the National PTA Convention in Austin, Texas next June.  Next year's theme, "The World Would Be A Better Place If. . ." has already been chosen, but we invite students to come up with their own award-winning ideas for the 2015-2016 Reflections Contest.  More information can be found on the Vanderlyn website.

Deadline for entries is Friday, November 1 at 8 a.m. and entries can be submitted into the drop box marked "Reflections Theme Search" in the front hallway of the school.
