Field Day

Dear Vanderlyn Parents,

It is time for two of the most anticipated days of our school year - our annual Vanderlyn Field Days!!!  On Monday, May 13th, PK-2nd grades will participate in this high energy and incredibly fun day. On Tuesday, May 14, 3rd through 5th grades will have their go at it!

In order to run this event and ensure its success, we will need your help!

Please visit the Sign-Up Genius links for your grade level and consider volunteering for one of the slots.

Grades PK-2nd: Sign-Up Genius Link

Grades 3rd-5th: Sign-Up Genius Link

We need all volunteer spots filled by May 3, so we can send out information about the day to our incredible helpers!

Thank you so much in advance for all that you do to support our school!

Sincerely,

Your Vanderlyn Field Day Committee Chairs

(Erika Harris, Bridgette Uhde, and Cami Mitelman)

Vanderlyn Student Wins First Place
Brinkley Parrish, a kindergarten student, has won First Place in the Young Georgia Authors Writing Competition on the county level.  Her writing "Peacocks in Savannah" will  now be entered into the state level competition.  The purpose of the Young Georgia Authors (YGA) writing competition is to encourage students to develop enthusiasm for and expertise in their writing, to provide a context to celebrate their writing successes, and to recognize student achievement in arts and academics.  Congratulations Brinkley!
DCPC - Last Meeting of the Year

The last DCPC meeting of the year will take place Wednesday, May 1 and feature speaker Mr. Michael Thurmond, Interim Superintendent of DCSD. This informative meeting will be held in the Dunwoody High School theatre. The meeting starts at 9:15 a.m. and conclude promptly at 10:30 a.m. Arrive early to secure parking and enjoy refreshments!

EARTH DAY IS MONDAY APRIL 22!

Consider recycling and other green activities at home during this week!

In the fall, Vanderlyn Vikings gave over 60 pair of shoes to Nike for recycling. With that in mind, do you have more old athletic shoes to recycle? Take them to the Nike store at Lenox Mall. Nike recycles them into material used in other shoe soles, Nike apparel finishes, and sports surfaces like running tracks and tennis courts.

Keep up the good work and Happy Earth Day!
