ART WALK 2016 Arrives!
Friday, August 19 - September 11
Various locations in the Library
ART WALK Exhibits
ART WALK is an initiative for artists to display their work in unique out-of-gallery settings. Sculptors Lewis Schaffer and Justin Perlman will be the featured artists at the Library this year. Both will exhibit work in the Ruggles Fine Arts Reading Room and Perlman will also install a sculpture on the Library's front lawn.

Lewis Schaffer trained as a physician at the University of Pennsylvania School of medicine and had a pediatric practice in Armonk, New York for 35 years before moving to Ridgefield. While he has always had an eye for design and a delight in making practical things, Schaffer began his artistic practice using primarily recycled materials. Recently he had made fine art objects from found objects from bicycle parts such ass whimsical bicycle birds, various four-legged creature and other constructions.

Justin Perlman is an award-winning professional sculptor working in stone carving, metal, bronze casting techniques and other media. His work is held in numerous private collections.

Perlman studied anthropology at Hampshire College and sculpture at the Art Students League in New York City. He also spent a year in Pietrasanta, Italy so that he could study with master artisans and sculptors in marble carving. In addition, he was a master chaser at a bronze foundry in the U.S. where he learned all facets of the fine arts casting process. Recent work has been created by a process called repousse, a form of sculpture working with malleable metals like copper. Perlman works with organic shapes that often cross and intermingle with various media.
