ATTENTION ALL LIBRARY USERS
On Friday, the reading rooms in the Morris Memorial wing of the Library will be CLOSED at 4:00 PM to set up for Dowagers and Mad Hatters, our British fandom celebration Friday evening.
On Saturday, the Library will be open regular hours, but we will be invaded by crowds of superheroes, Hogwarts students, Mutant Ninja Turtles, Disney princesses and other colorful characters throughout the building.
Please excuse the noise and commotion, and take a few moments to enjoy the festivities while you are here.

RidgeCon Coming this Weekend!

What are you a fan of? Whether the answer is Frozen, Star Wars, Doctor Who, Downton Abbey, Harry Potter, Alice in Wonderland or the panoply of superheroes, cartoon characters and other fan obsessions, we'll have something for you. All ages welcome. Admission is free, and costumes are encouraged (but not required).
Drop in for trivia, scavenger hunts, green screen photos, cosplay, Virtual Reality demos, great raffle drawings ($5 for 5 tickets; $10 for 12), coding with favorite characters, face painting, coloring, crafts, games and more. There will be vendors selling a variety of pop culture merchandise, light saber demonstrations by Way of the Sword, and live entertainment by talented RMAC musicians. Calling All Dowagers and Mad Hatters - and their Fans!
|  Friday, August 12, 7:00 - 9:30 PM Dowagers & Mad Hatters: A Celebration of British Fandoms This special new addition to RidgeCon this year is for devotees of Downtown Abbey, Jane Austen, Sherlock Holmes, Doctor Who, Alice in Wonderland and other British fandoms.
Signature themed cocktails and festive non-alcoholic beverages will be served, along with a selection of sweet and savory treats. Join members of the Jane Austen Society of North America for a card game, pose in a Doctor Who fez for a green screen photo, try your hand at Downton Abbey trivia and games, create a literary-themed craft to take home and enter a drawing for great British-themed prizes from UK Gourmet, Harney & Sons and Simpson & Vail.

VHS to DVD Conversion Scheduled by appointment Do you have home videos in VHS format that you would like convert to DVD? Reserve this individual two-hour session to make a DVD from one of your personal VHS videos (NTSC format only). Please note that it takes the entire playback time of the video for the conversion to DVD. Available to Ridgefield Library cardholders 13 years of age and older. National Theatre HD Encores @ Ridgefield Playhouse: The Audience The Library is pleased to join the Ridgefield Playhouse in bringing to Ridgefield great stories, told through opera, ballet and drama by the greatest performing companies in the world - including the Metropolitan Opera and National Theatre of London. Come to the Library to learn more about the history of these masterworks and their creators, then experience extraordinary performances on the big screen in HD @ the Playhouse. This week we are pleased to present an encore screening of the National Theatre's production of The Audience featuring Helen Mirren's multi-award-winning performance as Queen Elizabeth II - returning to cinemas in celebration of the monarch's 90th birthday.
Ridgefield Library cardholders receive the Playhouse member discount price of $20 on tickets to these HD cultural series - just show your card at the box office. College students pay only $15 and students 18 and under attend FREE, so introduce your favorite young person to these classics.
