Calling All Dowagers and Mad Hatters - and their Fans!
|  Friday, August 12, 7:00 - 9:30 PM Dowagers & Mad Hatters: A Celebration of British Fandoms This special new addition to RidgeCon this year is for devotees of Downtown Abbey, Jane Austen, Sherlock Holmes, Doctor Who, Alice in Wonderland and other British fandoms.
Signature themed cocktails and festive non-alcoholic beverages will be served, along with a selection of sweet and savory treats. Join members of the Jane Austen Society of North America for a card game, pose in a Doctor Who fez for a green screen photo, try your hand at Downton Abbey trivia and games, create a literary-themed craft to take home and enter a drawing for great British-themed prizes from UK Gourmet, Harney & Sons and Simpson & Vail.

Introduction to Reiki & Chakra Balancing
Join JoAnn Inserra Duncan, MS, RMT for an Introduction to Reiki: a modality for easing discomfort, restoring balance and sustaining health through a refined, ancient art of hands on healing that works primarily on the Chakras (energy centers). This is a wonderful technique for stress reduction and relaxation that promotes healing. Reiki is a gentle, non-invasive, holistic method of energy work that helps release energy blockages and increase energy flow in the body. Learn about this Energy Healing Modality and the Energy Centers (Chakras). There will be an experiential exercise for Chakra Balancing. Please register.This program is part of the Body, Mind and Spirit: Holistic Health and Wellness series that is made possible thanks to the Noreen L. Papa - Mothers: Live Your Life! fund. Making STEAM: VHS to DVD Conversion, 3D Printing
|  Saturday, August 6, 10:30 AM Donofrio Family Technology Center 3D Printing Orientation Are you interested in printing your own 3D design on the Library's Makerbot? We are now offering use of our 3D printer to Ridgefield Library cardholders. Before reserving printer time (available in two-hour blocks), we require attendance at a 90-minute orientation session to go over how to format a design to be print ready, how to operate the Makerbot, and for an overview of our usage policies. Patrons under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Registration required.
VHS to DVD Conversion Scheduled by appointment Do you have home videos in VHS format that you would like convert to DVD? Reserve this individual two-hour session to make a DVD from one of your personal VHS videos (NTSC format only). Please note that it takes the entire playback time of the video for the conversion to DVD. Available to Ridgefield Library cardholders 13 years of age and older. The Ridgefield Library and Story Pirates invite short story submissions from young writers going into Grades K-8. Submission deadline is August 15th; Story Pirates performance at the Ridgefield Playhouse on October 1st. $5 submission fee.

System Maintenance Thursday Night
|  On Thursday, August 4th overnight, starting at 9:00 PM, our library automation system will be offline for scheduled maintenance. This means users will not be able to access the catalog, place holds, renew items, pr access the My Account feature. Online access to databases and downloadable services requiring a library card number for log-in will also be unavailable.
The system is expected to be fully functioning before opening on Friday morning at 10:00 AM. We apologize for any inconvenience. |
