Author Talk with Carolina Fernandez
A 'Remodelista' and self-described layman Cultural Anthropologist, Carolina Fernandez brings her business acumen and artistic sensibilities to unearth the art and design scene of Palm Beach in her newest book Palm Beach Panache: Infusing Island Style with Serendipitous and Re-Imagined Finds.
Join us for a a lively slide presentation with images from the twenty-two homes, fifteen shops, gardens and galleries included in the book, she explores the palette, patterns, textures, furniture and décor, with homage to the demands, as well as the revitalizing qualities, of the 'Sun, Sea & Air' of Palm Beach. As important, she helps you learn how to translate the light, energy, and freshness of this island lifestyle into your own home, and inspires you to design and decorate-and indeed, to live!-with exuberance. ARTalk with Sculptor James Grashow

James Grashow will talk about his life and his career working with woodcut illustration and sculpture. Grashow has done woodcuts for every major publication from The New York Times to Playboy Magazine. His sculpture projects range from giant corrugated cardboard installations which are often exposed to the elements of weather to small intricate house plants. Grashow's illustrated talk will focus on his art adventures and he will build something on the spot. Please register.

Exhibit: We Fight for Roses, Too
An educational exhibit created by the Connecticut Women's Hall of Fame will be on display throughout the Library from March 10 through March 20. Stop at the Circulation Desk and pick up a scavenger hunt form before you explore the display, and you can qualify for fun prizes.
This exhibit is dedicated to the stories, struggles and achievements of Inductees to the Connecticut Women's Hall of Fame, women who have shaped the culture and society of Connecticut and the nation. Rather than focus solely on the photographs of each of the inductees, this exhibit showcases images that highlight the struggle of each woman's actions as a means of further reminding audiences that the quest for women's equality has not been an easy battle. This exhibit is perfect for audiences of varying age groups, its individual panels are bright, bold and engaging. The panels will be exhibited in the Lower Level Gallery and also on the Upper Level.

A Dozen Women Who've Made a Difference with Jack Sanders
Using slides, the local historian and retired editor of the Ridgefield Press will describe a dozen Ridgefield women of the 19th and 20th centuries who made noteworthy contributions locally, nationally or internationally in politics, education, medicine, journalism, the arts, and other fields. Some are well-known for their accomplishments, some are not, and some have been almost completely forgotten or overlooked. Registration recommended but drop-ins also welcome!.

Create a Memory Interactive Book using PowerPoint
Everybody has his own beautiful pictures for weddings, birthdays, Christmas or any occasion, either the ones taken by digital camera or the scanned old ones. In this workshop, you create a unique photo memory slide show in PowerPoint. Please bring a jump drive with five to ten photos or email them to yourself before class. We will add them to your memory book and create a take away e-book. This class is led by Jeanne Lanzetta, a technology consultant and instructor specializing in Microsoft software applications and time-saving tips and tricks. Class size is limited to 11. Trading Card Game Club People in grades 6 - 12 who enjoy trading card games such as Magic: The Gathering, Pokemon, and Yu-Gi-Oh! are invited to come play on the second and fourth Thursdays of the month at the Library. The club is run by middle school students who are fans of the games. Current players of the games will find people to play against, and those who are interested but have never played are welcome to come and learn. This is a drop-in program, no registration required.
