Skillsbox: Branding Basics with Jen Mathy
In today's competitive marketplace, it takes much more than hanging an "open" sign to make a sale or gain a new client.  Ms. Mathy will discuss integrated marketing communications and the need for small business owners to create their own brand identity.

Jennifer Mathy is the director and co-owner of WatershedGallery.com, an online fine arts marketplace representing emerging and mid-career artists.  Ms. Mathy's 25-year career as a marketing communications specialist includes her work as brand manager for Discover Card and vice president of advertising and brand management for Morgan Stanley. Most recently, Mathy operated her own marketing consultancy for small to mid-sized businesses. Please register. Breakfast will be served! NOTE:  New Date - This program was previously advertised as taking place on February 24.

Beauty, Resilience, Poverty and Empowerment with Karen Pease Marino 
The Library's World Views series continues with a program with Karen Pease Marino as she discusses her work with Bead for Life and her travels to Uganda. Karen Pease Marino is a volunteer for Bead for Life. Through photos and stories, she will be describe the beautiful country of Uganda, as well as the plight of women and families living in extreme poverty, and what can be done to help. Bead for Life helps women by providing business training and support so that women in Uganda who live in extreme poverty can rise and become entrepreneurs.Beaded jewelry and shea products will be available for sale at the event. Please register.

Zinio is an online resource offering Library cardholders complete full color, interactive digital magazines on computers or on a range of mobile devices. Select from over 45 magazines covering a wide range of interests including  Newsweek, The New Yorker, Rolling Stone, Eating Well, The Atlantic, National Geographic, and Kiplinger's Personal Finance.   Zinio's stunning interface recreates a magazine page for page, including full color pictures, intuitive navigation, and key word searches for articles. People in grades 6 - 12 who enjoy trading card games such as Magic: The Gathering, Pokemon, and Yu-Gi-Oh! are invited to come play. The club is run by middle school students who are fans of the games. Current players of the games will find people to play against, and those who are interested but have never played are welcome to come and learn. This is a drop-in program, no registration required.
