11:00 AM Literacy Alive Performance by mime Robert Rivest (Main Program Room)
In this interactive experience, families with children ages 4 and older will act out characters and events from stories. Robert Rivest studied under the legendary Marcel Marceau. No registration. Children ages 6 and under need to be accompanied by an adult.

1:00 - 3:00 PM STEAM Crafts for Families (Leir Children's Program Room)
Drop in to make bookmarks and do other STEAM-related crafts.

Parenting a Highly Emotional Child

Ferris Wheels and Rollercoasters: Parenting a Highly Emotional Child 
Noted psychiatrist Dr. Aaron Krasner and Tracey Masella, LCSW, both staff members at Silver Hill Hospital, will discuss how to help a child or teen cope with intense feelings and impulses. 

A brown bag lunch discussion will take place on the day following each talk in the series. Suggested reading for this week: The Emotional Life of the Toddler by Alicia Lieberman (for parents with kids of all ages) and  Surviving Your Child's Adolescence: How to Understand, and Even Enjoy, the Rocky Road to Independence by Carl Pickhardt.

This program is part of a series of talks designed to help parents navigate the often-complicated waters of child-rearing. The series, Parenting the Selfie Generation: Raising Successful Adults, is a joint collaboration between Ridgefield Public Schools, the Ridgefield Council of PTAs, Project Resilience, Silver Hill Hospital and the Ridgefield Library.

Shutterbugs Group Show Reception 
Please join us for a reception for the Shutterbugs group photography show. The show will be on display through February 27th.

The Ridgefield Shutterbugs group has been around for about ten years and consists of approximately 75 members who critique each other's work, offer tips and techniques and take site-specific field trips each time they meet. .  On the second Saturday of every month the Shutterbugs have a planned field trip. We are a low key group whose love of photography is the only requirement. We all learn from each other and enjoy having a rewarding experience. Co-Leaders are Mary Harold and Ralph Baskin.

Making STEAM: 3D Printing Orientation

Orientation to 3D Printing
Are you interested in printing your own 3D design on the Library's Makerbot?  We are now offering use of our 3D printer to Ridgefield Library cardholders.  Before reserving printer time (available in two-hour blocks), we require attendance at a 90-minute orientation session to go over how to format a design to be print ready, how to operate the Makerbot, and for an overview of our usage policies. Patrons under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.Registration required.

Bookmarks Mark Ridgefield

Bookmarks Mark Ridgefield is a community initiative undertaken with The Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum and inspired by Aldrich artist Ruth Root's ongoing project exploring her love of books. You can take part by creating your own one-of-a-kind bookmark and distributing bookmarks throughout the Library's stacks.  Learn more here.

Volunteers from the AARP will offer free help with income tax filing for low- and moderate-income taxpayers, especially those 60 and older.Tax-Aide sessions will be held at the Ridgefield Library on Thursday mornings from February 11th through April 14th BY APPOINTMENT ONLY.
