Odyssey of the Mind Informational Meeting
The Ridgefield Library is sponsoring Odyssey of the Mind teams for the 2015-2016 school year. Parents and students interested in learning more about the Odyssey of the Mind program are encouraged to attend this informational meeting. A representative from the Connecticut Odyssey of the Mind will be here to speak about the program and to answer any questions. Coaches that participated in last year's competition will share their experiences as well. The Odyssey of the Mind Competition has three grade divisions: K-5, 6-8, and 9-12 grades. No registration.

Dr. Mary Alice Long will lead and perform The Archival Memoir Project. A collaborative, playful, creative and innovative performance that helps people of all ages and diverse backgrounds to pursue their own unique archival memoir project. Dr. Long is an advocate of the importance of creativity, play and imagination across society as a way of thinking and engaging with life.The Archival Memoir Project combines a performance of Mary Alice Long's own multi-form memoir, which is designed to encourage people of all ages to claim what is unique about their personal story - and then be able to share their story with others in a variety of playful and creative ways.  Thursday, October 29, 7:00 PM Main Program Room Book Launch with Lisa Edwards Join us for the book launch of Lisa Edwards latest book Please Don't Bite the Baby (And Please Don't Chase the Dogs) - Keeping our kids and our dogs safe and happy together. (Seal Press/October 2015). During the talk Lisa will offer tips, advice, training suggestions and more to parents who want to keep their children safe around their dogs and keep the dog they love in the family he or she loves.
This special program is co-sponsored by the Library, ROAR (Ridgefield Operation for Animal Rescue) and Books on the Common. Copies of Please Don't Bite the Baby will be available for sale and signing at the event. Please register.

School SCRABBLE Tournament Sunday
|  Terror Of The Tiles! Join us for a Halloween School SCRABBLE Tournament. The format is three 50-minute School SCRABBLE games (played in teams of two) following official NASPA School SCRABBLE Rules (except for age limits). Players must be in 4th - 12th grade. We will find partners for players who do not have a teammate. Prizes will be awarded including a special prize for best Halloween word and best costume. Costumes are optional.
