College Admissions Series Continues this Week

The Ridgefield Library is excited to co-sponsor the Wooster School College Admissions Speaker Series for 2015 to bring in professionals from a diverse pool of excellent colleges and universities to look at the complex college selection, application and funding process from different perspectives, helping local students and their parents think more deeply about how to best match their search with who they are and the experience they would like to have in college.
Three of the series events will occur at the Ridgefield Library and four will occur at Wooster School. The Library events are open to the public and seats can be reserved through the Library website. Limited seating is available to the general public for the events at Wooster School and can be reserved by calling (203) 830-3900. Learn more about the series.

The Garden of Ideas, the Ridgefield Library and 109 Cheese and Wine will present a weekly Garden Lunch at the Garden of Ideas on Wednesday afternoons through September 30. Enjoy lunch in a beautiful setting (prepared for you or bring your own)...in solitude, with old or new friends, with colleagues... with an option for a bit of added inspiration if desired. Film Screening: Rise of the Giants

Documentary Film Screening
In anticipation of Ridgefield's Annual Giant Pumpkin Weigh Off, which takes place in Ballard Park on Sunday, September 27, the Library will screen the documentary movie Rise of the Giants.
Rise of the Giants follows a group of dedicated and eccentric farmers' race to grow the world's largest pumpkin (2032 pounds!) Along the way the film reveals how the plant changed the course of U.S. history, how farming helps incarcerated addicts with their recovery, and how a community of young growers have rediscovered their farming roots. This fascinating film is suitable for all ages. For more information about the film click here. Please register.

ARTalk with Suzanne Benton

From Paintings in Proust with Suzanne Benton, an exhibition about Benton's Proust-inspired artworks, will also be the topic of the Library's first ARTalk of the 2015-2016 series. Artist Suzanne Benton will present an illustrated talk about her two-year travelling odyssey studying the paintings and painters that Marcel Proust, the renowned French author, referenced (200+) in his early 20th century ground-breaking novel, In Search of Lost Time. According to Benton, to her knowledge no one has ever done such a special project interpreting Proust's cited artworks in this novel. An artist's reception will follow immediately after the ARTalk from 3:00 - 4:30.
Benton's art works will be on view in the Lower Level Gallery from September 3 through October 9th.

Children's Program Registration
|  Sign up September 1st through the 20th for fall pre-school and after school programs. We have a number of new offerings this fall for all ages. Many programs are offered on a drop-in basis, but some do require pre-registration on our website.
