Law through Film: The Fifth Estate

L&L Transmedia and the Library present the seventh annual Law Through Film Series. The focus this year of the LTF Series examines how technology forces changes in the law. The Fifth Estate raises issues about accountability and the media in this story about Julian Assange. Attorney Join Richard S. Land, Esq., of  Chipman & Mazzucco will lead the discussion after the screening. Please register.

Sports Talk with Danny Kanell
Join us as Danny Kanell shares stories of what it was like playing in the NFL - and more importantly the process it took to get there. He will also talk about working for ESPN. There will also be plenty of time for Q & A.

Danny Kanell is a college football analyst for ESPN networks. He joined ESPN in 2010 as a college football game and studio analyst and currently works on the ABC Saturday afternoon college football game. He also serves as an analyst for ESPN's Friday night football telecast, the College World Series Regional and Super Regional games and can frequently be heard hosting ESPN Radio programs. Kanell's athletic expertise spans both the collegiate and professional level in multiple sports. After playing quarterback at Florida State for four years, he was drafted into the NFL by the New York Giants in 1996 and also played for the Atlanta Falcons and the Denver Broncos until 2004.

Owner of Studio-g Creative Design & Brand Development, award-winning graphic designer Robin Dann provides clients with innovative and creative ideas to meet their marketing and communications needs. Robin specializes in working with entrepreneurs and small business owners to help them attract more clients by standing out from their competition.

 
Robin is a Graphic Designer & Brand Identity Strategist. She holds a BFA from the University of Hartford/ Hartford Art School with a concentration in corporate communications. Throughout her career, Robin has worked in large corporations, ad agencies and boutique design firms. She has over 20 years of experience in developing innovative and creative visual brand identities that flow cohesively through a client's marketing and promotional materials.

 

This program is part of the Skillsbox: Tools for Business Success series presented by Ridgefield Library, Ridgefield Chamber of Commerce and SCORE. Coffee, tea and bagels are provided.  Please register.

Open Mic Poetry Celebration: A Tribute to Ann Jepson 

Please join us for an afternoon poetry celebration in tribute to Ann Jepson, the former president of the Friends of the Library who passed away last March. Ann was a great Library advocate, who had a passion for poetry, teaching and the arts.  All are invited to come and read their own poetry or poems by other poets or simply to listen and enjoy! Retired english professor Dr. Alan Holder and several other of Ann's friends will also be on hand to read selections from Ann's own work. Afternoon tea will be served! This program is made possible thanks to the Friends of the LibraryNo registration.

3D Printing Orientation 
Are you interested in printing your own 3D design on the Library's Makerbot?  We are now offering use of our 3D printer to Ridgefield Library cardholders.  Before reserving printer time (available in two-hour blocks), we require attendance at a 90-minute orientation session to go over how to format a design to be print ready, how to operate the Makerbot, and for an overview of our usage policies. Patrons under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Once you've attended a training session, you can reserve time to use the Makerbot by calling Head of Adult Services Dorothy Pawlowski at 203-438-2282 x11003.

BoardServe Training Workshop

BoardServe Western CT is an initiative of The Volunteer Center of United Way of Western Connecticut that builds the capacity of nonprofits in Western Connecticut by training board member candidates in nonprofit governance and actively preparing nonprofits to recruit, engage and utilize new board members.

 

The Ridgefield Library and the Non-Profit Council of the Ridgefield Chamber of Commerce are pleased to partner with the United Way to bring BoardServe Western CT to Ridgefield.

AARP Foundation Tax-Aide

Volunteers from the AARP will offer free help with income tax filing for low- and moderate-income taxpayers, especially those 60 and older.Tax-Aide sessions will be held at the Ridgefield Library on Thursday mornings from February 5th through April 9th BY APPOINTMENT ONLY. This week appointments also available for Friday. Tax-Aide is not a Library program.  For appointment or information please call 203-438-4288.
