Library Board Applicants Sought
The Ridgefield Library Association is seeking applications from Ridgefielders for membership on its board of directors. Self-nominations are welcome. Application deadline March 27th.  Learn more. 
One-Day Opportunity to Support Technology at your Library this Thursday

Fairfield County's Giving Day is an initiative to increase local philanthropy in our region, including Ridgefield, through online giving. Presented by Fairfield County's Community Foundation with lead sponsor Bank of America, Giving Day will take place during a 24-hour period on Thursday, March 5. Funds raised by the Library will be used to purchase Maker Carts stocked with the tools and supplies needed for 3D printing and many more technology projects.  The more we make on Giving Day, the more you can make at the Library in days to come! 

 

Make your donation online anytime between 12:01 AM and 11:59 PM on Thursday, March 5th. During Library hours, stop by our Donation Station in the Bossidy Commons to make your online gift on the spot and help us earn special matching gifts and incentives.

3D Printing - From Design to Object

Stop by between 1:00 and 4:00 PM on Giving Day to get a taste of the creative activities your donation will make possible. 3D designer and technology instructor at the Library Chris Iorillo will demonstrate the process of taking your idea from concept to completed object using 3D design and printing tools. Starting at 1 PM, 2PM, 3PM and 4PM, professional 3D artist Chris Iorillo will show attendees how to take a concept through design to print. This program is aimed at teens and adults. Anyone under 15 years old must be accompanied by an adult. No registration.

Author Talk: Gabrielle Zevin

Join us for an Author Talk with Gabrielle Zevin,  who will discuss her acclaimed novel The Storied Life of A. J. Fikry, which has just been released in paperback. Gabrielle has published seven novels for adults and young adults, including Elsewhere, an American Library Association Notable Children's Book. Her novels have been translated into more than twenty languages. She is the screenwriter of Conversations with Other Women for which she received an Independent Spirit Award nomination. She has also written for the New York Times Book Review and NPR's All Things Considered. She lives in Los Angeles. Books will be available for sale and signing at the event thanks to Books on the Common.  Please register.

Ridgefielder and collector Joel Third will talk about and exhibit a portion of his collection of Currier and Ives prints.The exhibition runs through March 31 and a talk by the collector will take place on Saturday, March 8 at 2:00 PM followed by a reception from 3:00 - 5:00 PM.

BoardServe Western CT is an initiative of The Volunteer Center of United Way of Western Connecticut that builds the capacity of nonprofits in Western Connecticut by training board member candidates in nonprofit governance and actively preparing nonprofits to recruit, engage and utilize new board members.

 

The Ridgefield Library and the Non-Profit Council of the Ridgefield Chamber of Commerce are pleased to partner with the United Way to bring BoardServe Western CT to Ridgefield.

AARP Foundation Tax-Aide
news.jpg Volunteers from the AARP will offer free help with income tax filing for low- and moderate-income taxpayers, especially those 60 and older.Tax-Aide sessions will be held at the Ridgefield Library on Thursday mornings from February 5th through April 9th BY APPOINTMENT ONLY.  Tax-Aide is not a Library program.  For appointment or information please call 203-438-4288.
