Law Through Film Series - Submit  

Rescheduled from January 26.

L&L Transmedia and the Library will present the seventh annual "Law Through Film Series" this winter. The focus this year of the LTF Series examines how technology forces changes in the law. After a film screening local attorneys and other members of the legal community will lead discussions about issues that the films raise.

Submit is an award-winning documentary that focuses on cyber-bullying and the effects on our youth, families and society at large. (56 Minutes, Unrated) Registration is recommended.

Frogmen: An Author Talk with Richard Hyman

Richard Hyman will discuss his recently released book Frogmen, which is his personal account of expeditions with legendary French explorer Captain Jacques-Yves Cousteau and the crew of research vessel Calypso. Stories about life aboard Calypso

 with Cousteau, once one of the most recognized names in the world, should interest all age groups and both genders of the general public, particularly adventurers, Denver fans, divers, environmentalists, photographers, travel buffs, and videographers.  Registration recommended.

SCORE Business Advisor Mike Brooks will present a Reputation Management and Social Media workshop. Nothing is more important than your online reputation. Mike will share steps every business can take to monitor their online reputation, get more strong online reviews and engage their prospects and customers through social media.

For those of you who have antique furniture, autographs, books, banks, toys, glass, etc. and would like to find out what their value or history might be, the Ridgefield Library has a database to check.  P4A Antiques Reference contains information on auction prices from 1999 to present for antiques, collectibles and fine art.  Hollie Davis, P4A representative, will present an overview of the content and usage of this resource.  Come find out about your treasures. A Look at Human Trafficking in the United States  
In this program, in honor of Human Trafficking Awareness Month, Ridgefield resident Sarah Blumrich will discuss human trafficking in the USA and talk about her experiences interning at Sanctuary For Families. A few excerpts from the documentary Very Young Girls will be shown, and afterwards there will be a Q&A session and open discussion.Sarah Blumrich is a Ridgefield High School senior who interned last summer with Sanctuary For Families, a New York City-based nonprofit dedicated to helping victims of domestic violence, gender violence, and sex trafficking. SFF is the largest provider in the U.S. of legal services exclusively for victims of domestic violence and sex trafficking. Registration is recommended.

AARP Foundation Tax-Aide
news.jpg Volunteers from the AARP will offer free help with income tax filing for low- and moderate-income taxpayers, especially those 60 and older.Tax-Aide sessions will be held at the Ridgefield Library on Thursday mornings from February 5th through April 9th BY APPOINTMENT ONLY.  Tax-Aide is not a Library program.  For appointment or information please call 203-438-4288.
